ordering disney checks....problem

Has anybody ordered checks with newspaper coupons? - I ordered new checks from artistic - really cute Disney checks, too. I filled out the form, mailed w/check for payment, received the checks & 2 weeks later a separate bill for the checks to the tune of $70+/- - The order was to get the 4th box free....they said that Iwas a previous customer....maybe I was sometime in the last 10 yrs....I always order checks from whichever coupon is the least expensive so I switch up with all the different companies.

My question is - what to do? Send the entire, un-used checks back? Or use them with the assumption that I did pay for them at the time I ordered them....if the $26+/- I paid was not the correct amount, why did they send them? i.e., call me, mail me, or e-mail me to say there would be a significant price difference? there is no way I will ever pay that much for any checks...just 4 boxes single checks? Any ideas?? Thanks

Holy cow! Is there any kind of customer service number on the invoice? At this point I'd be afraid to send them back, for fear that they wouldn't acknowledge receiving them and send the bill to collections. Then you'd be out the checks and the inflated cost. Ugh. Good luck.

Was it Checks Unlimited? I ordered from them once, and several weeks after receiving my order, I got a bill because "the offer was for new customers only." I returned it, stating that I was a new customer; I had always ordered my checks through my bank before this. They then sent me a demand for payment and threatened to send it to collections. I called and spoke to Amy, who told me that they go by customer name, not account numbers and/or addresses, and apparently someone with the same name as me had ordered from them 4 years earlier. (I did ask what they do when a new John Smith orders, and she got really nasty at that point).

After that, I started getting demand notices every day, so I paid it, but I also reported them to the BBB. They never responded and the BBB ended up closing the complaint. I've never ordered from them again.

Thanks apirateslifeforme for your info - it was with checks unlimited. I called the toll free # - explained I didn't realize I was previous customer & asked to return them....cust. service lady was very nice said OK but offered to settle for $26.40 - which I did so I only have about $42 into the 4 boxes - I can deal with that but will be very careful ordering in the future!
