DS just went through a years worth of contacts in 6 months.

I want know to know where people order contacts online. I am looking of for the best price. Is is usually cheaper to order online vs through the optometrist?

Also what kind of info do I need...Can I just use the info from the box he has now? Do I need an prescription from the optometrist?

Finally the most important question...Can I use our FSA card to purchase them online? I know our FSA will usually ask us to mail a receipt with the person's name and date of services etc. I wonder if they will refuse to pay for it online.

Thanks for helping me out! :)

We have used 1-800 contacts for years and they have a great return policy if your prescription changes. :thumbsup2 FSA do take receipts for online contact purchases. We have found that contacts online are about half of what they charge at the eye dr.

Also, if he is going through so many contacts you might want to look into daily disposables. They are slightly more expensive then the longer wear one but if he is going through a year's worth of contacts in 6 months they will save you money.

I just ordered for both my sons at Vision Direct. I was able to use a coupon code and got a bonus discount for being a first time buyer. I ended up get the 30 day Pure Vision contacts, two one year supplies (two boys, one year of contacts for each boy) for $200 total. Last time I priced around, they had the best deal and it remained true for me this past time. If you google vision direct coupon code, many sites will show up. You can play around with it and see which discount would work best for you.

I just had to know their prescription and give the name of the doctor, address and phone number. They mail the receipt with the order, I put it up for our taxes.

We've used 1-800 Contacts for my DS for a couple of years now...but I never knew this! That's really great to know, but do you mind me asking how it works? Thanks!

OP, we are very happy with them and they are much cheaper, and we have used our FSA account to cover the cost. Sometimes they need dr. information for prescription verification but they are really efficient.

Call them and set up the return. They mail you out the new contacts with a return label, put in all the unused contacts in the box and send back. They credit your new order with what you say you have to return. If you return less they charge you for the difference. They took ALL unused contacts, not just unopened boxes like most places.

We had something like $120 in new contacts ordered and $60 in returns so they only charged us $60 for the new contacts.

:worship::worship:Thank you SO much! Much appreciation for this, really! We made my poor DS finish out the last few months of his contacts knowing he really needs a prescription change. :upsidedow

I've used vision direct for six years, they make it really easy to use your FSA card, plus you get 5% back in Drugstore.com dollars. My eye doctor matches online prices, but I'm lazy and prefer to have them delivered.

I use 1-800 contacts and have been happy. They also partner with Walmart so if you are out of town and...say...lose a contact in the ocean and forgot to pack more you can go into Walmart. They confirm your prescription with 1-800 contacts and sell you a new box.

Another happy 1-800 contacts customer. They have great service. I used my email receipt to submit to my FSA and got that started before the contacts even delivered :)
