If you are stoping by the norwegian pavillion, make sure that you try the beer; Ringnes.

It's a pilsner, a bit like Heiniken (whitout the aftertaste...)

When you are ordering it you should say this:

Gi meg en ol for faen! (Can I have a beer Please)

Pronounced: Gee my aen aul (or: Ringnes) for faan!

That will impress the norwegian castmember!

Manga tussen tuk!! I don't know if I spelled it right or not. But like I said "Many thousand thanks!!" Help me if I'm wrong...

Thanks for the info! I hear that Ringnes is very good and would like to try some. :D
By the way what is the correct pronunciation of Ringnes? I don't want to embarass myself when ordering some ;)

Thank you for the helpful hint! I am Norwegian (although several generations removed) and my grandfather always said Grace in Norwegian for special family meals. I never learned any Norwegian and of course now I wish I had.

I enjoy the traditional foods handed down to me- so now I will have to try their beer!

The plaque on my wall says Mange Tusen Takk. (Got it in Door County, Scandinavian heaven!)

My mother-in-law makes lefse every year at Christmas. I got a book on it at the Norway pavillion, figuring I'lll have to learn to make it since DH and kids like it. I'm Irish, but really don't like crepe-like things made out of potatoes!

you mean they dont have BUD!!!!!!!!lol disneykid:o

# Yes, you pronounce it like this: Reengnes.

# Mange tusen takk is the correct spelling, but it's more commen to just say: Tusen takk. Or "Hjertlig tusen takk". (Heartley thousand thanx).

# It dont mind that they are not serving Bud there.... hehe

Iguess, will have to try, whatever!!!!!!!he he , lol disneykid:Pinkbounc

OOOOO We tried this beer while we were strolling the WS. Really liked it, then went to dinner at Akershus (which we loved!) and had another. Got a nice little buzz off these two beers! LOL!

I don't have to bother learning how to make lefse- just head out to any Lutheran church in our area and the little old ladies know how to make the best lefse. They sell it as a fundrasier for the church. Try it with meat balls, or spread butter and cinnamon on it :p

We also eat Lutefske once a year at Christmas (it doesn't matter if nobody in Norway eats it anymore, its "tradition"). We joke that men are not allowed to marry into the family unless they sit down to a Lutefske dinner and actually eat :hyper:

I am looking forward to trying this restaurant out in a few days, the beer sounds yummy (of course, being from Wisconsin we drink anything but Bud).

Hi giernor! You are talking about my husband's FAVORITE beer EVER! He craves Ringnes, and cannot get it. We have been trying to get it somehow here in Chicago and are unable. When I showed him your thread, he got a big smile on his face!

Tell your housband to check out this link:

http://www.ringnes.no/wbch3.exe?p=3279

It's posible to buy Ringnes in the states as well, you can send an email to: ringnes@ringnes.no
They can probabley help you with an agent in your area.

AND if you like Ringnes, make sure to try an another norwegian beer, Aass. (Yeah, I know... funny name)

http://www.aass.no/usa/us.htm

I think the Aass beer tast much much better than Ringnes!
