Orchestra *Inspired by "Marching Band" Thread*

Hey everyone [:
I was wondering if anyone is in orchestra.

I play the cello and have been playing since 3rd grade. What about you?

I've played the violin for 8 and 1/2 years.
My school has a pit orchestra for the spring musical and I'm in that.
I go to orchestra camp every summer.
And I'm in my county's orchestra.

Like in marching band, I play the trumpet and have been for about 9 years. First chair! Woot!

Yup, I like orchestra because the french horns always get a pretty good part. And, there are no saxophones!

I really really wish I could play the cello. It's so beautiful.
But I play the trumpet in our small, not so good, orchestra. LOL.

Orchestra peeps unite.

I'm a violinist for going on three years now, and play in the teeny little youth orchestra at a college. First chair since last year, but it's not like a huge achievement since we're not really competing for spots; there's one violinist who's obviously the best, she's the first chair, and everyone else picks a seat randomly. Being first or second depends on which part of the music you can handle better, though. I've actually played both parts in one season, and one time had to play third violin in two pieces plus the first/second parts in others, what with the shortage of violists and all. (Seriously, we need more musicians-- violins make up half of the orchestra of twenty-ish people, and there's no other instrument with more than two people playing it. We haven't had any brass instruments in here since mid-'06, either. )

But I can't WAIT to start again, this summer break is killing me. Only one and a half more weeks to go! =)
