Orbitz/price assurance question.

Ok you guys have introduced me to the wonders of ebates. We are flying to MCO in October, and I was planning to purchase with orbitz via ebates, as orbitz advertises the 'price assurance'. How does this work? I'm currently looking at identical flights on orbitz and united. The flights directly from united are $65/pp cheaper but of course united offers no price guarantee. Any insight? Do I need to call orbitz for the adjustment?

Why would you pay $65 more for tickets through a third party on the minuscule chance that another passenger will book the identical itinerary at a lower price than you paid? You don't get money back, you get something called Orbucks credit - for 110% of the difference between your fare and the other passenger's?

I was uncertain exactly how orbitz price assurance worked. I have only used orbitz once before and the price was identical to all other places. I was in hold with orbits for 30 mins and thought I would post my question to the budget gurus. As my flight is not for 6 months, the odds of the price adjusting is large. I was uncertain if I could call orbitz and have them price match united.com. Thanks.
