So far the latest I can currently use a promo code is 3/31/15. Has anyone booked over Easter last year with an Orbitz code?
I realize it's still early but I need to arrive Easter Monday for a 2 night stay. As of right now I can rent DVC points but I can't wait a long time to decide on that; availability won't last long.
WWYD?

I booked with orbitz/cheaptickets last Easter. There were no blackouts and I think it was 20% off. I booked on jan 31, but I think the deals started a lot earlier but I was holding out hoping disney would offer a deal since there were so many empty rooms.

So this was not in addition to Disney discounts like what's available now for fall?

Yes, the Orbitz discount can/will be in addition to the Disney discount. So, for example, when Disney is offering a 30% off deal, the Orbitz deal will be the 30% off, plus an additional percertage (whatever Orbitz is offering at the time).

But since last Easter was blacked out by Disney, the Orbitz discount was the only discount in that case.

One thing to watch out for is the "extra" fees charged by Orbitz. Last Easter, I computed my exact totals for the Orbitz deal versus the AAA room-only deal and the Orbitz deal still saved me money over the AAA deal. So go to the end part on the Orbitz booking page to see your total with fees and taxes added in if you want to compare with any other type of deal.

Yes, this is true about comparing the bottom line. AAA will no longer be doing business with Disney after January 1 so no more AAA discounts.

I was just wondering since Disney has blackout dates, does Orbitz also do that too? Or maybe Orbitz doesn't even offer promo codes for that time of year. I wasn't clued in about Orbitz until just recently and we rarely travel at Easter so I was wondering how it was last spring.

At this point, I think it's a safer bet to just rent points.
