So I have a reservation for a week at Summerbay. I stayed here a few years ago, and thought it was nice. I have the opportunity to change the vacation to Orange Lake - West Village. Now let me say, I usually prefer to stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, in fact it is my favorite place. But unfortunately not available when I will be going. I'm just looking to see what you all think. I know neither will compare to Bonnet Creek, but I'm for some reason a little nervous about Summerbay and thinking Orange Lake may be a better decision. I will use the pool a little, but mostly use the resort for relaxing inside, sleeping and cooking, so enjoying the resort itself. What do you think? What would you do if you were me???

Well we have never stayed at Summerbay. I have looked at it a few times. We have stayed at Bonnet Creek, and loved it, and is great for Disney visits. We have been to Orange Lake 3 times in the last year and a half, and are returning again in 40 days! My family has outgrown Disney, (I know) they like a resort with lots to do, and love still going to Universal/SeaWorld/Busch Gardens. As far as location, Summer bay or Orange Lake are not that much different, so if I have to base it on resort alone, Orange Lake is huge, not sure about Summerbay, but I love everything about Orange Lake. We spend a lot of time at the pool and resort using the amenities there. You probably can't go wrong with either.

If I remember correctly, I think the West village is the oldest area. I've stayed there a couple of times in the villas with parking at the door. I really enjoyed my stays there, the villas are spacious and while they aren't as nice as the top tier resorts, I found them to be fine. The resort itself is HUGE and if you don't mind driving to the different areas, there is a lot to do there.

Sorry but can't comment on SummerBay because I've never been there.

I have to concur with the other posters. We frequent Orange Lake and love it, but haven't stayed at SummerBay. We've always enjoyed our Orange Lake experience and would recommend it to anyone.
