Orange County, Florida is planning on buying foreclosed properties in the county. They plan on fixing them up so they can be resold. One out of every 141 homes in the county are under foreclosure. The county plans on purchasing the houses at greatly reduced prices, cleaning them up and reselling them. The county will not be allowed to make a profit on the foreclosures. Any profits go back into the program to purchase more properties. They are also instituting a program to help those on the brink of foreclosure.
The county does not want the area to be dragged down by unkempt, empty properties. Homes setting empty are not only an eye-sore, but are a target for criminals. The overgrown properties are a haven for rats and other creatures. Homes sitting empty and closed too long in Florida will end up filled with mold and will end up non-saleable. The idea is to keep these homes in good condition and get people back into them. The final approval of the program is due by the first part of December.
I am so happy to hear this. There are many homes in my area that are overgrown and a total mess. I'm thrilled to hear the county will be helping with this situation.
