Someone on one of the other discussion boards suggested I post to this one.
I have a question about the orange parking badges available in the UK.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that Orange badges are recognised in America.
My husband has a brain tumour and gets very tired, we hadn't planned to hire a car but perhaps it would be an idea as we are also travelling with our 3 year old and the days will be long!
How does the badge system work at the parks etc?
Do you think that the transport from ID to the parks will be sufficiently frequent if we need to make a dash back 'home' for a snooze?
Thanks for any replies in advance

You can use the Orange Badge for your rental car to park in the accessible parking lots, if you want, althought that isn't always the best option unless you are using a wheelchair or have particular difficulty getting into the trams. If you have a car and can use the tram, your better option is to tell teh parking attendant that you need a space next to the tram stop because of a medical issue, adn they will let you park in one of those reserved spots right where the trams pick up. That is a shorter walk than the walk from the wheelchair accessible parking lots. Also, you will get free valet parking at all the onsite resorts with that documentation.

Transport will be about every 20-30 minutes... you might want to consider renting a car if fatigue is a serious issue and you also have a child along.

In the parks, you will need to get a Guest Assistance Card, or GAC. Click on the link in my signature, below, and look at the GAC section of the FAQ. Feel free to ask questions! :) :) :)

Thanks Teri
I checked out the link you suggested and think we'll be going for the Fast Pass (or whatever it's called! and plenty of rest stops!!
I doubt I'll get Phil to ask for a GAS - he keeps insisting he'll be okay but his days are cut short at the best of times by tiredness so we'll have to see!
The main problem is that he looks as though he should be alright, he's only 34 and has no visible mobility problems-we battle daily with the dirty looks from people as we park up (legitimately) in disability parking spaces!
Whatever happens I'm sure we'll have a great time and maybe a 2 way radio would be a good idea for if he needs a break for a while.

Go read the section about pacing as well as the GAC section... :)

Thanks Teri,
Done that too!
Roll on April 11th.
