We banked our March UY 2020 points into 2021. If we are unable to use them before the end of February 2022, what options do we have? When do decisions need to be made? We have never been in this situation before. Thanks!

You can rent the points out, gift them to friends/family, or deposit them to RCI.

Can anyone explain how depositing points into RCI works? When does it have to be done? How long do you have with those points? Anything else important?

Before depositing them RCI, I would strongly suggest looking over the RCI resort options that are open to DVC. It is possible there would be nothing you are interested in. Booking something at WDW and just going yourselves may be your best options. If you're worried about COVID, Almost everyone that is going to get vaccinated should be vaccinated before next February. If you're looking at a possible family crisis with an ill or elderly family member, or if you are a caregiver to someone who is ill or elderly, then perhaps renting your points would be the best option.

We had points that we had moved to RCI, but then were able to move them back when DVC rules changed. When we looked at the RCI site, there were very few options that were of interest to us. YMMV.

RCI has properties almost everywhere, so I find it interesting that some people can't find places they like there. We stayed in Times Square for a week for something like 125 points in what was essentially a 1 bedroom with no door separating the bedroom. I mean we were right by Carnegie Hall. Another we stayed in a two bedroom right by Silver Dollar City for 3 nights for 20 points total. Seriously, we couldn't have gotten a place closer. Even thier "on site" property was further away.

So, definitely look around and play with different dates as well, it's worth at least checking out.
