Hi everyone,

We are considering buying next year at some point. We sometimes want to invite our parents along when we go to WDW, but there's no way we'll be able to buy enough points to stay in a 2 bedroom unit and still be able to take our own planned vacations.

Is there a way for that family member to buy points to add on to ours, to make a 2 bedroom reservation?

We were also thinking we could help them rent DVC points from another member, for their own unit (studio would be enough, I think!).

Of course, another option is to stay offsite in a condo or house, and save our points for something else the next year, or go twice. But it seems like it would be fun to show off our favorite DVC's to our folks.

Heck, maybe they would get the "bug" and buy, too! ;)

I would see if you can buy points from another member to TRANSFER into your account. This is pretty easy to do. And alot more hassle free than renting points, and then trying to Sync up the two reservations.

Family members can't "buy" points to add on to a one night reservation - if they truly bought they would have to buy a regular DVC contract with points that come every year. As dwelty said they could "rent" the points from an existing DVC member, but you couldn't combine their rented points with your owned points to make a reservation for one night. In other words, your points would have to pay for all of one night, and their rented points would pay for all of another night. Also, the transferring of points into your account would be far easier, as the previous poster said. If you have 150 points and you need 200 for your 2BR stay of xxx days, paying someone to transfer those 50 points into your account would be so much easier, in my opinion. Especially if you find someone who has the same home resort as you - then you could make the whole reservation at the 11 month mark.

Good luck!!

Would they have to have the same use year? When the points are transferred to me, do they become as if they were my use year?

Only if you are making the ressie @ your home resort @ the 11th month. Sometimes you'll find a rentee with the same UY.

No..they keep thier own identity, but, remember @ the 7th month you can make ressies @ any resort.
