Options for staged exit?

At one point I thought I heard someone say that Disney would require you to pick up the petals if you brought in your own instead of purchasing them for the exit from Disney Floral. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Perhaps that was just directed at the dried/silk petals?

What about Lavender? I think it's less expensive than rose petals, AND they smell and look gorgeous! I'm not sure if Disney allows those! I'll have to ask my planner! :goodvibes

When I told my planner I was going to do the petal toss, she said I had to designate two guests to clean up after the toss. That, plus the fact that I didn't have the right petals, made me go with bubbles instead.

Thanks, Julia. Last I heard, Disney cleaned them up. But, it looks like they changed that. Yikes! I think I might head down the bubble route, too. I doubt anyone at my wedding would want to clean up petals. Though, I'm sure pictures of people chasing petals in the wind could be quite funny.

Love this picture!!! How much did these confetti cannons cost you? We were quoted $650 for the ones that come down on the last dance, but didn't ask about these. They look awesome!

Thanks! :goodvibes I checked my BEO and they were $500. That was in May 2010.

Wow. This is just ridiculous... designating guests to clean up! How rude! "excuse me grandma, but can you pick up those petals you just threw" haha Crazy!

So thanks to Sarah who enlightened me on the whole no sparklers rule, we had to come up with a new idea. I saw this idea in one of the magazines I just picked up where the bride and groom got married at Georgetown University, their alma mater and handed out a bunch of pennants and flags with their school colors, streamers, confetti, etc. It was super classy looking too. So, since my fiance played college ball, and we are HUGE braves fans, AND we met at our brothers' baseball games we are having a wooden bat as our guest book and stadiums for our table names (Turner, Fenway, kauffman, etc). Anyway, we're looking at doing something similar with the banners/flags/etc with our favorite teams. It sounds kinda cheezy but the pictures looked cool, esp if we wanted to hang the picture in our basement next to other sports memrobilia. It also makes it personal to us.

Just thought I'd let let ya'll know since I just got the memo on sparklers!

Thats a cute idea Rebecca, could you post that photo? And yes, Im worried about asking my guests to pick up their rose petals...surely that cant be right? I wonder if you buy from Disney if you dont have to pick them up or something? Hmmm?? You would think since theyre biodegradable and all that the landscaping guys with the blowers would come by and blow them into the bushes or something? Weeeiiirrd! This is giving me a lot to think about lately. :headache:

We just got married on Monday and used freeze dried petals from saveoncrafts.com. We let our planner know at our PS and we had no problems.

I just had my planning session yesterday and am doing toss petal and nothing was mentioned about us having to clean them up.

:confused3 I wonder if this is just another inconsistency between planners?

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. It does make me pretty mad that I have a box of unused petals lol but that's why I think everyone should just ask their planners directly. Seems that everyone has their own rules. And I think you should ask the planner directly, not the assistant. I think the assistant tells you what Disney rules are and the planner knows which ones can be broken. :confused3 I don't know, just my experience.

I know this doesn't help most of you, but our Disneyland planner told us that they'd charge something like $250 to pick 'em up if we provided our own petals for tossing... so yeah, we'll probably be doing bubbles :rotfl:

One nice thing is that they told us upfront that it would be cheaper for us to buy and bring our own bubbles rather than getting them through Disney. :thumbsup2 They did offer bubble machines as an option!
