We are four adults and five children staying in two rooms at the Poly 1/21-1/30. Arriving at MCO and taking the DME to the Poly.

What are our options for buying a case of beer to keep in our room fridges?

IMO, there is nothing better than sitting on the pool deck while the children swim after a long day in the parks. Come with me now... Tiki torches lit, tropical music playing softly, faint smoky smell of O'Hana, intermittently gazing across at the castle's changing colors. And cold beer in hand.

I know the bar will be open but think it would be nice to have our own supply.

Can we buy it at the gift shop in quantity? Can we have it delivered? Would the DME bus make a stop at a liquour store?

First..no the DME will not stop at a liquour store or any store it will only make stops in Disney..but could you imagine if it did:scared1:..yes to both you can have it delivered and can purchase quantity in the gift shop but probably a little pricey still cheaper than by the pool..have a drink for me.:thumbsup2

You can buy as much beer as you want from the gift shop or food court, but Disney eliminated the quantity discount that they used to offer at the gift shops so you are paying about $5 per beer.

Beer can be ordered from and delivered by gardengrocer.com and wegoshop.com. There's also a Hess gas station that can be reached fairly easily using Disney transport, but I can't remember exactly how to get there.

If your plan is to drink on the pool deck, please remember to purchase your beer in cans or plastic bottles.

If you go to Downtown Disney there is a Hess station across the street

Another Hess station is across the street from the Boardwalk resort

The closest from the Poly would be the Hess express located at the car care center

At $5 dollars a beer in the Poly gift shop a quick taxi ride from the Poly wouldn't be more than a mile, how much could that fare be ?

My husband always has to make his beer run! Last trip though, he ordered a case from Garden Grocer. Very easy, it will be separate from your grocery order (and you do have to place a grocery order that is a $50 minimum) and you will have to fax your drivers licesne to them if you won't be there to take the order personally. This was a great option, but not all trips do we want a grocery order, esp if we are on the DDP. Although some water bottles, a few snacks and a few breakfast items add up quick.

Otherwise, you can go over to the Hess Station by DTD. My husband and son always just ride the bus over to DTD, walk across the street, get the beer and then walk back to the DTD bus stop. We have a couple of big, zippered, sort of plastic type shopping bags we got a few years ago at World of Disney so they can put in there. The Hess prices aren't bad and they are also pretty reasonable on their water bottles and snacks.

I still long for the days when it was around $10 for a six pack of beer in the resort shops, but like all things, Disney caught on and found a way to make it freakishly expensive.

I'll also put out to you my drinking strategy! I take a plastic bottle of my favorite rum in my checked bag, then use my refill mug to make rum and diet cokes! My kids know never to take a sip of anything I have in my refill mug.:rotfl:

I do the same thing...except I pack Captain Morgan in bubble wrap and mix it with Coke Zero.

To the OP...I would take a taxi to Hess (or Publix if you want a better selection) and make one beer run at the beginning of the trip. Usually works for us and you can buy a case of the good stuff for what a six pack would cost you at Disney.

Great minds think alike!

Yeah the good thing about goingto Publix is you get a better selection of beer than at Hess. I asked my husband and he said at Hess its mostly Bud and Coors with maybe Corona too. Prices aren't bad but the selection is minimal.

When you say $50.00 minimum, does that have to be $50.00 non-alcohol or can the $50.00 include snacks and the cost of the beer?

Thanks.

I looked at the Garden Grocer web site last week and it's a $40 min. order so it may have changed. They also charge a $12 delivery fee. It has to be a $40 min. order total, including snacks and alcohol (doesn't have to be just alcohol). You can place your order online, then have to call to add in alcohol because you can't select it on the web site.

I have been in contact with Garden Grocer and they said I can e-mail them my list of wine and beer choices and they will e-mail me my options and prices and then I just let them know what I want.

I saw this posted in another thread -- it's a beer delivery service! I have no firsthand knowledge of them, but I thought it was a great idea so I bookmarked it:

OMG, this is brilliant! I checked out the website, offers a great selection, something for everyone. lol. Might just be worth looking into. Thanks for posting!

I know this is an old thread, but....

did anyone use the beer run service? did you have to be there to accept the order?
