Options After the Program

I'm really looking for some guidance and advice on this one.

I have been accepted to the WDW program for Attractions. I really wanna go, but someone has opened up a job back home for being a substitute parapro. I can't decide what to do; if I take it, there's a possibility of becoming a full time parapro, which would be an ideal job for me. On the other hand, they might not extend me that position. If I turn their offer down, there's a good possibility they might not ask me to work for them again.

So I REALLY wanna go to WDW, but I'd need to know I could have opportunities afterwards. I wanna go, extend, and then... do whatever. What could being on the program lead to afterwards? A full-time job? A job in any other part of the company? What are the pro internships like? Are they more likely to get you a job afterwards? How many people who go on the program stay?

Basically I just need to know that I won't be at a dead end if I do this program. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Going seasonal: does that mean you go back to school and then when you have time you just come back and work when you want? What if you graduated and then go down...can you still do seasonal or is this made for people still in college? What if you extend into an internship or full/part time...I'm assuming you still have to move out of the apartments and get an actual house/apartment there. is that right?

Anyone can be seasonal.

Yes. Only CPs can be in the housing.

The buzz I'm hearing is seasonal will be tough to get this year. PIs are highly competitive, as we've seen, and I would never plan on one. "I'm older and I have more insurance" ;), but my take on it in this economy is a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Just my two cents...

I was turned down for seasonal :sad2:
My managers didnt take on any CP's after mine ended

That's odd I thought that all cp's could become seasonal after their program? I was a custodian at Animal Kingdom for the fall 08 program. Myself and the other cp Animal Kingdom custodian's were asked if we wanted to be seasonal.

It's up to your managers as to whether you can become seasonal or not but usually if you keep your record card decent looking and do your job well, you will be able to become seasonal at the end of your program. I did the Fall '08 program in Attractions at DAK and I'm now seasonal. I just went down during "spring break" and worked a couple days. I also got to pick up my maingate which is one of the main reasons I went seasonal, along with wanting to keep a foot in the door if I ever decide to move to FL. However, I wouldn't do the CP with the thought that you'll get a full-time job after it because there are longgg waitlists of people waiting for full-time spots and there just aren't any to get right now.
