Optimistic October 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

That graphic is exactly me this morning... Alaska airlines had an IT outage overnight and my flight this morning was canceled. Been scrambling for a couple hours to get re-booked and coordinated with the others traveling. I can't get on a flight until early tomorrow, so will be staying at a hotel by the airport tonight. Ultimately it doesn't change things too much... just a later start and later finish tomorrow.

I didn't react to anything in the patch test yesterday... again. Same thing happened last time I did it. She's thinking I have a non-allergy nose thing, so has recommended saline rinse ( which I've tried before and yuck). She also suspects that the physical act of eating triggers a response from the vangus nerve and has given me a nose spray to use before eating to see if that helps. The thing that confuses me is that I didn't get a bump from tomato yet I know what happens to my body when I have some.

Today is my last day on the muscle relaxer, and that concerns me because ibuprofen currently does nothing for the pain. Tomorrow I will be renting my car since it’s going to be at least a month before I get my car back. ☹️

I’m taking the week off at the after school program because I don’t think I will be able to handle working all those hours.

I’m not looking forward to returning to school mainly because of my violent student. My body aches and I can’t imagine being hit and kicked right now. I do my best to avoid him, but sometimes he moves so quickly that it’s impossible.
 
Today is my prep day for returning to work after my accident. We’re picking up my rental car soon, and of course the insurance only covers the absolute minimum priced car. I am used to driving an SUV, and I may have to drive a tiny car unless I am willing to pay a lot extra. I will see what my options are and go from there.

Later, I have a nail appointment. I decided to treat myself. I’m trying to get out of this depressive funk. I’m very hesitant about driving, but I know that I need to get over this.

I’m very relieved that I am only working at school this week. This way, if I have the energy, I can stay after to catch up on things. If I don’t, I can go straight home to rest.
 
I survived my first day back at school. It was smart of me to go straight home afterwards. Around 1:00, the pain began to feel unbearable so I stayed at my desk. The kids were concerned and told me to take it easy. How sweet are they? My loose cannon was terrible this morning. He was walking on the kids’ tables and was very aggressive. I avoided going near him and tried to protect myself from being attacked.

Driving was very stressful for me. Scooters were speeding all over and cutting in front of cars. I managed to get home without anything terrible happening.

Little by little, I will get back to normal.
 
I usually try the buy-what-you-don't-like method, some times it works - some times it doesn't. The last few years I've put out bags of chips rather than candy, not that it is that much better.

It feels like it has taken a long time for Halloween to get here, probably because I've had pumpkins in the house since early September. I'm ready to take them down and start to put of holiday decor. I bought a new faux garland for the mantle, which should come today, so that'll be my starting point.
