i need to decide between Rose and Crown or San Angel........ideas?

I've only spent quality time at the pub part of Rose and Crown but our experience with San Angel was that it was heavy on ambiance and light on quality. We loved being next to the water but wouldn't eat there again.

If you have access to decent Mexican food at home, I would skip San Angel. The atmosphere does not make up for the food in my opinion. I haven't tried Rose and Crown.

Didn't go to rose and crown this time, but we were not impressed with San angel. We were paying out of pocket and were not happy with the value, but really what ruined it was a bad waiter that pretty much ignored us. We all sat thirsty waiting for drinks for too long..and then for again for refills. Of course that is hit or miss but for the cost they should have better help!

We went to Rose and Crown but just up at the bar, but we loved what we had and the atmosphere was fun. The bartender drew a four leaf clover in the foam of his guinness. DH enjoyed it so much, his one request this next trip was to hang in the UK showcase for longer.

We've done both and honestly neither sticks out over the other and neither is on out must to list. Trying to fill a spot I have thought of both. Food vs cost, they are not very "worth it" to us. High cost, mediocre food and choices.

I'm going to say if I had to choose one it would be San Angel...but I really could not give you specifics on why... I think just personal preference.

Both are great. San Angel more ambient.
