Anyone who gets either - or both! - want to tell me what they like/hate about these mags? SmartMoney magazine (a WSJ pub) has just ceased and I'm being offered one of these two as a substitute for the 14+months left on my subscription. Both are weekly. I liked SmartMoney - too bad. Amazon prices for a yearly subscription are $52 for WSJ Weekend and $179 for Barrons - but I'd get either one free for the balance of my subscription. Thanks for any info you can provide to help me decide!

Barrons is the most popular investment industry magazine. It is a big paper filled with articles about investing, stock ideas, etc. as well as tons of pages of all stock quotes and market information. All of this is now available online, but back in the day Barrons was one of the few places to get the info for a reasonable cost and some people still like to page through it. Definitely a good choice if you like investing.

Wall Street Journal Weekend is more like a newspaper. It has investment and business articles, but also has politics, editorials, a sports page, a lifestyle section etc. So probably a better choice if you are not into hardcore investing. It is a more rounded publication.

If you want, you can probably check them out at the library or your supermarket on the weekend to see which looks more appealing.
