We were just at Disney the second week of November and the weather was PERFECT and the family had so much fun! We booked two bouncebacks. November 1st - November 7th, 2015 and December 12-December 19th, 2015.

Which week would you go? I really would like to go in December but than my son will miss three weeks of school. One week for vacation and two weeks for break. Am I just being a worry wart? He will be in 2nd grade and the school gave me no issues about the week vacation this year.

I would love to hear when you would go and why. Thanks for your input! :goodvibes

we went that week last year and again this year. DD missed nothing in 1st grade. I would not worry about missing 3 weeks of school since the school will be closed for two of them. However, DD is in second grade this year and missing 3 tests! They usually do fun things all week so I am surprised they are giving so many tests but then again they usually have 2-3 tests per week so maybe I should not be surprised.

I'd personally go for the December dates because that week can have low crowds and all the decorations are up.

I would pick December. We are going that week this December and also taking kids out of school. Mine are even older. Remember...your son will only miss the week he's out with you. The other students will be off for the break too so he won't be at a disadvantage there. Go and have so great time!!:santa:

The end of your week in November coincides with the start of Jersey Week and the start of your week in December coincides with the end of Pop Warner. Regardless, I'd go with November for a higher probability of warmer weather. We were there the week before Thanksgiving this year and it was in the low 60s with a high of 49 one day. Pretty cold most days until later in the afternoon, at least.

Florida weather pretty unpredictable for both end of November and into December, for example was in 80s last week, into low 60s this week, and next week at norms of low 70s day/50s evenings. I would focus more on likely crowds and lines and look at crowd predictor sites for advice.

I would pick whichever one is most appealing to you. If 2 weeks is break, then he is only missing one week of school, not 3. Also, in our experience, the week before Christmas break in grade school they don't do a ton of real academic work anyway because the kids are so wound up for Christmas it is hard to get them to focus. It is likely that he would miss more academic stuff in November. The one drawback to December is that if his school has holiday parties, then he will miss that, and he will also miss whatever other holiday activities they do. For DD's school, they have their Christmas shop that week where they take money to school and then they can buy gifts for all their family members at the store. I don't know what different activities his school might have that he might miss out on. At our school, they seem to fill that week with activities that are more "fun" oriented like art projects, learning games, hands on experiments etc. because they know the kids are too hyped up for much else. DD is also a performer, so December is pretty heavy with Christmas performances- you might think about what he will be missing out on for his out of school activities too- sports games, performances, Christmas parties, etc.

That said- WDW is wonderful during the Christmas season and if there is nothing that he really will be upset about missing, that would be my choice and you seem to be leaning towards it, so I would say go for it! We went between Thanksgiving and Christmas 5 years in a row and absolutely loved it. We then switched and went in October the last 2 years. Fall is fun too, but going the day after Halloween, you will likely miss the Halloween party, and the decorations will be in transition. The parks should have most of the Christmas decorations up by the time you leave- but there will be resort decorations and park events that probably will not have started. You were there the 2nd week of November this year, so you know what to expect. Pretty much the same as you got this year, but maybe with not quite as many of the decorations completed. Based on our experience, the weather in December is crazy. It might be between 80 and 90 degrees for the high, it might be 50 degrees for the high, or you might get both in the same week. We have started off the week day and night in shorts and t-shirts and ended the week in sweaters, gloves, and hats. The weather changes fast too, so you can't trust the forecast. Also, if swimming is really important, you might think about that. We typically don't swim on our December trips. We have had days where we could have, and days where there was definitely no way. When we go in October, it is pretty much always swimming weather.

You have plenty of time to decide. The year we switched from Christmas to October- I had both trips booked with all my ADRs until about 2 or 3 months away when I had to commit to airfare.

I'm a firm believer in experiencing the World at different times of the year. For us, it makes it fun and exciting and new every time we go. For others, they go at the same time every year because they know what to expect and for them that's important. You need to just figure out what kind of family you are. Are you a go with the flow and try new things type of family or are you happy going again at the same time of year due to weather, school. etc.

Your son in young so I wouldn't worry about taking him out of school for a week. If that was not a factor, when do you think you'd want to go?

One week before Xmas break here is my son's holiday party at school. There are concerts (chorus and orchestra) for the older kids. Also the town parade and Santa rides around town on the firetrucks.

Would your son be ok with missing all of that?

As much as mine loves WDW, he gets upset if he misses the "fun stuff" at school. (We had to change our DL trip last year because they had a Mother's Day tea in his class).

Obviously your child may be different than mine.
