I know people here are not keen on the kodaks, it seems like most like the cannons. I have a polaroid 2.0 2xdigital zoom. I want to move up before out disney trip. I know i want something with good zoom and also good to take night shots. I really can not afford the Cannon s2is. Was looking into the kodak p850 and many people say no.

How about some opinions on the Fujifilm FinePix S5200. TIA

Kodak makes some good cameras and the P850 is one of them in my opinion. I just do not see it as costing less than the Canon S2 IS.

The Fuji S5200 is about $100 less than the P850 and S2, but it lacks image stabilization.

All of the above cameras will yeild great results, dont get too caught up in what the pixel peepers have to say. If you took a microscope to your old 35mm photos and they told you there was too much grain or distortion would they make your memories any less special?

Kodak cameras in general are bad, not because they are actually bad, but bad valued. For the same amount of dough you'll be able to get far better camera. I mean, who's in the right mind design a camera with no lens cap whatsoever? Claiming to take ISO 800 but in small print says that it can only take ISO 800 at 1.3 MP? It's mind boggling how overpriced Kodaks are. That's why they can never compete in the professional market. The quality, neutrality of the colour, cleanliness of the image, and the value are just not there at all.

As Anewman mentioned, P850 is at about the same price as S2 IS, the latter which yields far better image quality.

Fuji S5200 is a very good point and shoot camera equipped with manual override.
