i know everyone is different, but for those who like a hiking shoe for WDW, do you prefer waterproof or ventilated?

I am torn between the merrel Moab waterproof and the Moab ventilator.

I've used the waterproof ones in Disney before and they worked great, but I am wondering if the ventilated would be even more comfy? I do tend to get "hot feet", lol.

It will be hot- we are going in May.

But I know it rains often, and who wants wet feet?

Hmmmm hot and dry or cool and wet?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!!

I prefer ventilated. I also have hot feet.

I wear Keens though. I forget which one, but it is like a closed toed sandal for hiking. Ventilated AND it can get wet.

I have 'hot feet" too. Even though I have not tried those particular shoes, I like ventilated shoes. I would rather have wet sandals/flip flops then non-vent shoes. We tour with Reef flip flops, which I have never toured in flip flops before, but these are the best supportive-nonblister-nonaching shoes for us when it's hot and we have to walk long distances.

I've worn the Merrell Siren Sport with GoreTex, and they did keep my feet nice and dry during wet days at the parks; however, like a previous poster, tend to prefer Keen Whisper sandals. The sandals protect the toes and are quick-drying. They are the most comfortable during hot & wet weather.

Since you are going in May I would definitely go the ventilated route. I always take 2 pairs so if one gets soaked I can wear the second the next day while the first dries. If you were going in cooler weather I'd say waterproof.

I usually wear flip flops, but if I do wear shoes, I carry spare socks (Smartwool 'Hide and Seek') and a pair of super light weight flip-flops in my backpack. Even waterproof shoes can get water inside them on water rides. I usually put on the flips for water rides or change out the socks if they get wet.

I like the ventilated hiker and I carry a pair of extra socks in hot weather. In cool weather I go with waterproof but still extra socks or liners. Somedays I feel like a trip to disney is like planning a hike on the AT but with less chance of bear attacks.
