Currently booked at POP for Easter 08 but am pretty sure I'll be upgrading to a Mod. With the high crowd levels I think we may end up spending more time at the resort than previosly thought. After much hemming and hawing I've narrowed it down to these two. Please give me the scoop on which you think is beter and why. I'm particularly interested in the bus transportation, pools, rooms, food options....and anything else that may help me decide. Traveling with DH, DD12 and DD9.

Well, we spent our last trip to WDW during the first week of October last year at POFQ for the first time ever. It was a nice enough place. It was small compared to POR and CBR. The food court was okay. I wasn't happy with the lack of customer service I was getting from some of the food service CMs (at the poolside bar and food court). Mousekeeping was good as the rooms were always clean. The bus service was not the best because we shared buses with POR on many trips to the park. However, POFQ was always picked up first so we always got a seat but there are several stops at POR and the trips to the parks took quite awhile. The pool was nice. There is a boat launch to Downtown Disney that was a nice relaxing ride.
All that being said, I would stay there again but this year (22 days) we are staying at CSR. I have heard great things about it and I like trying new resorts. :goodvibes

We loved POFQ when we stayed there 2 years ago. I had it booked for this trip, then we opted to try a new Mod for a few days then I am treating everyone to BC for the remainder of our trip. We will be staying at CSR this year, I am looking forward to it, however that being said I did not care for CBR last year, it was a long walk for my kids to the food court, the grounds themself are beautiful, but I was not impressed. I love the size of POFQ and we did not have any problems with anything there.

The best two mods but they are totally different. One is small and one is large and the themes are totally opposite. All depends what strikes your fancy.

I prefer CSR, check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

I've stayed at both and prefer CSR. Better transportation, more centrally located. CSR definitely has the better pool and food options as well.

HAving stayed at POFQ I'd recommend CSR! The shared bus situation at POFQ is very frustrating, not to mention the lack of an onsite TS restaurant. Plus, the pool looks very cool!

They are big opposites. POFQ is the moderate with the least amount of amenities and CSR has the most amenties. POFQ has lots of fans but personally I don't think it has enough to offer for me to pay moderate prices. We have eaten there in food court, walked all around and my kids (who were under 10) said the pool was too babyish. My family loves CSR and they would pick going there over a deluxe. Buzz's website says it all.........just a great resort, especially if you want resort time.

FQ.. hands down

I have said it before, but I will continue to blast CSR. We stayed there and had tons of issues with the convention people. It was so undisney while staying at that resort. We had problems with guys at the pool in suits doing nothing but hitting and checking out women in their bathing suits, to tons of "hello my name" tag wearing people being rude and owning the place.

It was a horrible trip to CSR and we always steer people away from that place.. The food court is horrible. They charge more to eat there, you get no disney feel and have to deal with convention people and are 2nd rate guests to them all during the trip.

We have since stayed at the Cabins in FW and POR on our next two trips and LOVED them. For our 08 trip we are going to FQ. We have not done it yet, but loved POR but wanted to try a new resort. That leaves just CBR, but the pool is down for repair so that was out for us.

Avoid CSR!

We stayed at CSR with our two daughters and loved it. We didn't experience any issues with convention (or any) guests whatsoever. The kids love the main pool and my wife and I loved the beauty of the resort. It is very romantic, especially at night. You will love it.

I know CSR is known for being more of a convention resort, but does it really feel 'undisney'? We've stayed at both the Swan and the Dolphin which have more business travelers and yes I think you can feel that they are a little less 'disney' than the Disney owned resorts, but I wouldn't expect that from CSR.

Thank you everyone for your input thus far!

And you won't be disappointed. It is not less Disney one bit! CSR is southwest America/Mexican themed. How much more does New Orleans scream Disney?

CSR is a great resort. You feel like your in Cancun. Other than the main building, you hardly see the convention guest. They are busy during the day working and at night like to go to PI. The pool and buses will be less crowded because of the conventions.

The resort itself is beautifully landscaped and the lighting makes it so pretty at night. Check out the pics on buzz's site.

I'd pick CSR. I think it is more Disney than POFQ. Better food choices, better pool. I know a lot of people like POFQ, but to me it feels like not a lot of thought went into it.

We've stayed at both and have kids about the same age as yours and would definitely choose CSR. The FQ pool is wonderful for little kids but "too babyish" (quoting dd 11) for pre-teens. Our kids are crazy about the CSR pool, which has a very long waterslide, and in fact they love everything about CSR.

I'd choose CSR.

Couple things to note:

You're going to want to book SOON...Eater is popular and that time frame can sell out quickly.

Those talking about "issues" with the convention feel of the hotel...keep in mind that the time the OP is travelling is NOT prime convention time. There MIGHT be one going on, but given that time of year, and the holiday, I'd be surprised.

Ok you guys have me convinced, we're going with CSR!! I'm waiting for a callback from my AAA agent. Thanks for the help.

:surfweb: We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort in the Summer of 06 and loved it:love: The Resort is very pretty, the grounds are great:banana: We had one previous stay at the carribean beach resort in 05 and I would have stayed there again had I had my choice rather than trying somthing new. I got out voted:grouphug: by the family and we chose CSR for the Pool, it was my 13yr old's vote and my son went along with it.

The foodpopcorn:: choices at CSR were much better than at CB. The Counter service options were much greater, I guess because it is a Convention Center resort. We did the DDP and on days we had character breakfasts, we did counter service at the hotel for dinner and the food was great, they have mexican food options, pasta bar, a grill where you can order steaks or burg etc, we found it much better than at CB.

:moped: We found the bus transportation to the resorts in the morning to be a little better at CSR as opposed to CB. I dont know if we were just lucky at CS or if the service is better, there seemed to be more buses in the moring at CS. The trips home seemed to be the same. The only transport issue I remember was that the AK bus from CS goes to Typhoon Lagoon 1st before it stops at AK, but we still go there in plenty of time for our character breakfast before the park opened.

We are going back next summer and I think we are staying at CS again:banana: Im sure you will love:love: what ever hotel you choose

Here are some building good choices to request.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. (Most convenient location and most preferred)

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool (and is the old smoking optional building).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.
