Need some opinions about the Cape May Clam Bake. I have heard good and bad things about it.
Both DH and I and our 2 DD's (3 and 2 years old) are HUGE seafood fans. DD's especially like crabs and shrimp. DH and I also like crabs, shrimp, clams etc.
So is it worth the price? I already have 3 other PS buffets that I have decided I must do, so I really want to make sure it is worth it!!
Please tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about Cape May Clam Bake.

We love the Cape May Clambake; it's our tradition to have this dinner our first night of each trip. I think the price is worth it, especially if you like steamers (all you care to eat). They also have the small peel-and-eat shrimp as well as steamed mussels, a white fish, clam chowder as well as vegetable, chicken and beef offerings. Plus there's a salad bar, kids area and dessert bar.

Ok, and I have to admit I like the butcher paper on the tables and the crayons they provide to "decorate" your tablecloth ;)

Our family is also huge seafood lovers. We tried the clam bake for the first time last August.....it was wonderful. We were a party of 7 (4adults, 3kids). If I remember correctly we didn't have to pay for our DD2.

We will be heading back to Cape May this September....wouldn't miss it! Our DS12 is especially excited, he is a big eater and loves steamers.

Hope you decide to try it out and like it. Be sure to reply to this post you can tell us what you thought.

If you are seafood lovers, you should be fine. However, I would suggest you don't go too late. We went at 8:45 & they stopped refilling things like salad, shrimp, potatoes & carving meat. The table next to us stated we must have gotten a bad night though, since they had eaten there earlier in the week without any problems, hence thier coming back again.

The Cape May buffet is one of our favorite place to eat at WDW. We like the seafood. I love the clams & could eats lots of clams, some shrimp & maybe a rice krispie treat :)!

Thanks for all the replies.... I think we are definetely going to try it.... and with an early PS!!!! I am really looking forward to it ... now if I could only get time to fast forward to January!!!!!

Its great. We went there for our first time this trip, and I have never eaten so much seafood in my life. Everything is so hot and fresh, it was a great experience. I hope you enjoy it!::MickeyMo

OVERRATED

There are not too many restaurants that we won't go back to in the World.............but this is one of them.......Atmosphere is great.....even the theme is pretty good, but our family thought the food was Average, at best................

Just my two cents..........

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

My husband & I were not overly impressed. We also thought the food was average at best. Oh well, everyone has different opinions. Maybe the best thing for you to do is give it a try & decide for yourself & if you don't care for it don't go back. Most people seem to give it good reports.

when i went they didn't have steamers, they had mussels, and they had quohogs(labeled as steamer clams). :)

being from new england, I didnt care for the seafood part of it, but hte beef was good

Make sure you leave room for dessert!!! They have the best dessert table of any of the buffets, IMHO! ::yes::

As I have posted many times before!

Cape May's Clam Bake...is my favorite buffet anywhere!

We are huge buffet fans and enjoy Las Vegas...but for some reason Cape May is the first on my list when making PS.

We ate there twice during our last trip in Oct.!

My favorites eats there are:

1) OREO BON BONS

2) Steamed Mussels

3) Pork Ribs

4) OREO BON BONS

5) OREO BON BONS

get the hint!

They should have a OREO BON BON eating contest!

I woof down 2 (shooters?) before I hit the main buffet and then at least 4 more after dinner.

My son and I really enjoyed Cape May. I was a bit worried too but it was really great. One surprisingly tasty item on the buffet is the chicken strips on the kids' section. I tasted one and really liked it and I don't even like chicken strips that much! :)

Yes, I agree that the desserts and ribs are good. They also had a rice dish that I really liked. Plus excellent service.

I am one of the ones that think it is just average. I don't go out of my way to eat there (usually only if my wife requests to go there). There are plenty of restaurants that I like better and a few more to try that I haven't been to.

We enjoy Cape May and go there every trip. Only my husband eats seafood, but there are more than enough other choices for the rest of us.

Love the desserts!!!

Oreo Cookie Moose on top of an Oreo cookie then dusted with chocolate powder.

There was a recipe link on the boards some time ago...my DW has offered to make them for me....I always decine the offers as it's one of the many reasons I have to visit Florida every year...LOL!

I like Cape May well enough, but one thing to keep in mind is that there isn't all that many seafood choices on their menu. Mussels, clams, and shrimp is about it. They do offer crab legs for an additional charge. If you're going there just for seafood, you might be a bit disappointed in the offerings, but as far as overall buffets go, it's pretty good.

Thank you so much everyone for your opinions!!! (good and bad)

I am really looking forward to those oreo bon bons.... thay look deeeeeelicious.

Since there is also prime rib and chicken fingers (my 2 personal fav's) on the menu, in addition to the 3 seafood selections, I think it will be great for us.

I cant wait to give it a try in January!!!

Cape May is one of our favorite stops for dinner at WDW. We eat there every trip. My hubby is the one who enjoys the seafood, but there is always plenty of other great food for me to enjoy, too. I agree - definitely check out the dessert section - it is always huge with lots of great stuff to pick from! ;)

My hubby's family went for a short trip around Easter this year & didn't enjoy Cape May like they usually do. May have been due to the extremely large crowds that week. Regardless, we are still looking forward to eating our dinner here in Sept & have even added a stop here for breakfast in Sept. I say give it a try - I think your family will really enjoy it! :teeth:
