DD's field hockey team is getting T shirts. Some of the girls want to get shirts that say "guys like girls with skills" on the front and "sweet stick skills" on the back. It's supposed to be similar to something from Napolean Dynamite? I'm not sure I'm comfortable with my 15 year old wearing that, especially to school. I'm not crazy about her wearing anything that starts with "guys like". What do you think of it?

The Varsity girls field hockey team at DD's school's slogan is "Chicks With Sticks". ;)

I agree - I wouldn't want a "guys like" sentiment on a sports team shirt. Is that why they play hockey? So guys will like them?

The two slogans together basically say "Guys like girls with sweet stick skills". I asked dh what he thought that slogan would mean - without saying anything about it being for a 15 year old girls hockey team - and his first thought was that it was about girls being skilfull in delivering manual stimulation.

So maybe my husband has a filthy mind, but if he does - it's nothing compared to that of a teenage boy.

I would urge them to choose something else.

Ummmm, yeah. My DD wouldn't be wearing that to school. Or anywhere else.

I don't think I would be comfortable with my daughter wearing a shirt with that slogan on it.

Have to agree that the connotation for "sweet stick skills" is a bit risque and could be easily misinterpreted/misconstrued as having a s*xual overtone.

I just asked my DH what he would think, and he said, "Too much double entendre. I wouldn't let [DD] wear it."

I just asked DH the same question - poor guy thought he was getting lucky tonight!!! :rotfl:

There must be a million cute and witty sayings to put on a t-shirt. This one's not appropriate, in my opinion.

I wouldn't wear that, and I am a teenage girl. That is just asking for trouble.

Too suggestive in my opinion.

That shirt wouldn't leave our house.
Don't they have to have it approved by the school? Or won't it say the school's name on it?

Cute.

Don't like the Guy's Like tees though, and would veto any daughter of mine wearing one.

I agree w/ everyone else, it sounds suggestive.

We have some good slogans in our schools (even though I think those are funny(napoleon dynamite fan here) i think they are inapropriate)

Volleyball slogan: It's in your heart or its in your FACE
Rivalry Slogan/Football Slogan: Friends dont let friends go to westbranch (westbranch= rivalry)\
Volleyball slogan: We're on fire Bump Set Spike thats how we light it (you could change it to something hockey related)
The little football : GET ON YOUR GAME FACE!

one that could be acceptional is "guys like girls with great goals" "our goal? to win the game!"
you could always replace guys like girls with with something such as people like people with...??

hope i helped!

Thanks for the opinions. I was thinking it was too suggestive as well, and e-mailed my opinion out to the other parents to make sure they are aware of what some of the older kids had come up with.

The wrestlers at my school have some sugestive ones, but not like that. one that stands out in my mind was "Hold my headgear while I kiss your girlfriend" and another was, "I would rather wrestle in my *name of little uniform thingy* than dribble in my pants' or something, making fun of the basketball players.

I liked the "Guys like girls with skills" but not the one on the back. Then again I'm only 19 and got the Napoleon refrence immediately.

I know our FH team had ones that said "Refuse to Lose" and "We work our butts off to kick yours" and there was "We're not responsible for lost or stolen pride". We also had one that was "If its gonna be Conquered its gotta be Tide". That probably wouldn't work for you though because we were the Concord Crimson Tide Thats all I can really think of right now. A lot of teams at my high school had shirts that only held meaning for people on the team.

You might as well have them wear "Our sticks are bigger than yours" shirts...

Hey... ;)
