We have a 5 year old daughter, 3 year old son and 8 month old daughter. We have been to just about all of the different character meals and are looking for something new that the kids would still enjoy. What are your opinions on T-Rex at Downtown Disney and 50's Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios? Are there any other places that we should consider that the kids may enjoy? Thanks!

The food at T-rex was very mediocre. The atmosphere is cool, but you can also walk into the restaurant to see it if you want to.

50's prime time is awesome and I highly recommend. The food is always good and its a nice atmosphere too!

I'd recommend Sci Fi Drive in theatre. You can sit in cars if you book a reservation (if you walk in and they happen to have an opening you will sit on a round table).

My daughter is 4, and she loves the 50's prime time. The staff always gets her to laugh, and she loves the food and atmosphere. It is a must do for our family!

50's Prime Time was great when we went there last year. Great food and a cool atmosphere, although kids may not appreciate the atmosphere as much as adults.

T-Rex was just ok. The food was fine but not great. The atmosphere starts out neat and ends up annoying, imho. Its a really loud place, especially when a 'meteor shower' comes, every 15 min or so. And I like loud restaurants generally, but T-Rex is just over the top. You can't talk to people two seats away, and during a meteor shower forget talking at all.

We (especially my DD) have really enjoyed TRex on our last 2 trips. I think it's my DD's favorite place to dine at Disney -- lots of excitement! We have found the food to be good - chain food like a TGIF or similar.

We tried 50s PTC on our last trip, and it was absolutely delicious (especially the fried chicken!). DD was a little nervous the waitress would pick on her, but she had a really good time. She especially liked that our waitress gave us "homework" while we waited, we had to try to think of all the Disney animated movies with just one-word titles.

I think both of these choices are GREAT! Have an awesome time!

We have never been to 50's prime time but T-Rex is LOUD. It was even louder than Rainforest Cafe. The food was so so. It was a very cool experience and I'm glad we went once but we don't plan on going back. We love Rainforest Cafe though, just making it clear it's not those type of restaurants we didn't like, it was T-Rex.

We have an ADR for T-Rex in March, have not been yet.

50's Prime Time is great and has become a must do after our last trip ( first time ). We love it. Food is good, atmosphere is campy fun and the servers are a riot.

We have eaten at both and while DH and I enjoyed both of them, my kids asked not to go back to 50's Prime Time. We all loved T-Rex although it was loud. My girls (5 and 7) where fascinated by everything going on. DH had the ribs and I had the Mushroom Ravioli and we both agreed that apart from California Grill, these were the best meals we had our 3 weeks at WDW.

I:lovestruc50's Primetime!!! It's a must do for us on each trip. The atmosphere is so much fun and the food is really good. (especially the fried chicken) We went to T-Rex in October and really enjoyed it. I see that a lot of people think that the food is mediocre but everything we had was really good. It does get loud there though. Have a great trip!

The only two restaurants I ever even consider eating at in Hollywood Studios are 50s Prime Time and Sci Fi Dine In. The being said, Sci Fi's food is horrible in comparison to 50's Prime Time. I've actually stopped going to Sci Fi. I might go back sometime this year because I genuinely miss the super cool atmosphere. 50's Prime Time atmosphere is great too though. I definitely feel like I'm eating in the kitchen of a 1950's sitcom. The servers are lots of fun. My favorite thing to get there is the meatloaf. I never eat meatloaf anywhere but here. haha.
As far as T-Rex, I've only been there once because apparently snagging a reservation is extremely difficult. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience though. Obviously the atmosphere is pretty unbeatable (Rainforest Cafe doesn't hold a candle to it) and I enjoyed the food. The dessert I got was a lot of fun. It was donut holes with chocolate and caramel to dip it in.

Both places are LOUD. DS6 has autism and is sensitive to noise so that may put a different twist on how we feel.
TRex: Defiantely loud. DS6 did ok because he LOVES anything and everything that involves dinosaurs. The theming is really amazing. The food however is average at best and really expensive! We had a $25 gift card and a $10 coupon and our lunch with tip still came to over $60. Granted you are paying for the experience, but the food was soooo not worth it. Next trip we will *visit* TRex but not eat there.
50's: We loved the food, but again, it can be really loud. The first time we ate there we had a table that was more towards the front of the rest. and our waitress was fabulous. Our son did well. The second time we were in the very back of the rest. in a very dark grey room, in a corner, and it was CRAZY loud. DS6 couldn't take it so I took him out...but DH and DD7 enjoyed their meals. DD7 would go there just for the PB&J milkshakes. ;)

we didn't even touch our food at the t-rex. one bite and we were sickened! it cost us a hefty $70. cool atmosphere, yes. good service- but you can just peek in- or what i was thinking for next time we have guests with us & they want to see it is just ordering some drinks at a table (don't want to sit at the bar with the kids)

Well, we love 50's Prime Time and my 16 year old son wouldn't miss it, so we go every trip. We've also loved Rainforest, so we can't wait for TRex. Bring on the loud and the mediocre food-That's why we go to Applebee's at least once a week-LOL.

We thought the food at T-Rex was fine, but were were in the ice room and it was so incredibly loud. My cousin's sons actually wore ear plugs during dinner because both are sensitive to noise. My kids liked it well enough, but neither one has asked to go back.

We haven't been to 50's Prime Time, but I have friends who love it.
