Opinions on Sci Fi?

Not a fan, to be honest. Hate the seating arrangement (I know, part of the theming), the food is average, and it's dark as heck. We snagged a last-minute lunch back in May after taking a few years off so that we could give it a fair shake and see if things have changed (the meal quality)....nope, still not impressed.

I agree with your assessment but my tastes are opposite yours so I really enjoy it. I agree that the food is average (I might say slightly better than average but average is certainly fair)but for park food, average is fine with me. I also agree that it's dark in there but I enjoy that. As you mentioned, the seating arrangement is a bit unique. We are a family of 4 so my wife and daughter (7) sat in the front seats and my son (9) and I sat in the back. We also thought that was pretty fun. Different strokes. So if you like dark settings in a uniquely themed restaurant with average to slightly above average food, it's the place for you. Take into account that there aren't too many "must hit" dining options in HS, I'd say go for it, for sure.

In many ways it is more of a CS than a TS (huge number of burgers) but I love the place and always get the steak and I like the onion rings. My opinion may be a bit shaded I love drive ins. In my living room hanging on the wall are 2 drive in speakers and I have 3 pictures of classic drive in theaters in my house.

I think it's worth a try. We like it because we think the food is good, and it's something unique you can only do at Disney. The seating is not conducive to large parties or odd numbered parties, and it's not fine dining by any means, but it's one of the best themed restaurants IMO.

I love it. To me it is one of those quintessential disney experiences. We never miss it when we go to HS. I love the atmosphere. I can see if you are traveling with more than 2 and it is very important to you to all sit together and interact it might be a bummer, but that's not really what this place is about. Also odd numbered parties (unless including 2 very small children) can be problematic as well. But for myself and my son, we love it!

It's 3 of us, so I hope it doesn't become an issue.
They make car tables for 4 that I'm sure you could request, with regular seats. They put us there our first time, kid was a little disappointed but it was fine.

or if you know what to expect and who is going to sit where it's not a big deal. I think it is a bigger deal for someone who is expecting traditional seating but then finds out their party is split up. Kiddo and I just sat quietly and watched the clips.

I agree with every post telling you to get a burger. They’re a few bucks more than the burgers at ABC Commissary, but about 500 times better.

This probably doesn’t apply this week, but when we dined there in August, it was such a nice break from being out in the sun and heat. I had an tall unsweetened iced tea and basked in the darkness and A/C. I didn’t want to leave. LOL!

Thanks! We're so used to being split up on rides it really isn't a big deal. My husband sits by himself most of the time.

yeah, someone mentioned above that their 11 year old had to sit alone. I would not choose to split my family that way personally but hey. At our last meal there I don't think we said a thing to each other. We shared a deluxe DDP credit and we shared a wings, we each had a shake and we split the steak... the kiddo just sat and quietly ate watching clips and I sat and quietly ate and decompressed.... ostensibly watching clips but really just enjoying the cool dark and quiet as a welcome break from the overstimulation and heat that is WDW :)

Sci Fi is our favorite at HS! I have gotten the steak the past 2 trips and it was really good both times. My granddaughter always wants the chicken pasta dish, I cant remember the exact name of it but she really likes it.

When we are three DS sits in front seat (the driver) and my other DS/I sit in second seat. Sometimes we are the whole car (2 seater) and sometimes there are hitchhikers with us (3 seater). With the movies and the dark, it's really no big deal and he was fine on having a seat to himself. You can still lean forward and talk and the front person sling sideways and talk back.

We would never miss the chance to have a meal at SciFi during a visit to HS. The atmosphere is outstanding and we think the food has improved over the years. (Been to DW 5 times since 1993) We were just there in September and dined on burgers, fries, and grilled chicken sandwiches. Do they offer the best food ever? No. However, the entire experience is sooooo worthwhile! Give it a try....if you can manage to get a reservation!

I think everyone should go there once because the theming is fun. However, no one in my family liked it. They thought the food was bad and we would rather sit at a table where we can actually talk to each other.

We decided to cancel the Star Wars dessert party, so we are looking for a TS to sit and have a break on a very long parks day. I set up a TP alert for an ADR. Is it any good? We know nothing about it, but the menu looks yummy.
Yes, we always eat there when spending the day at HS. Their rib plate is good.

Sci-Fi is my must do restaurant experience at WDW! I'm a child of the 1960's and have fond memories of my parents taking my sisters and I to drive-in movies. I always make at least one reservation here for each trip.

The food is OK, I usually do burgers and fries. Sometimes I opt for a mid-afternoon reservation and just order a dessert.

Do a search on YouTube if you want to see what the restaurant is like.

It’s great there! Everyone I was with got burgers and we all liked them. My daughter (5) loved it and still talks about it. We’re going there again in Feb.
