Opinions on good quality cameras

I'm looking for a new camera for my upcoming Disney World trip. I've been looking at canon rebel t6...however I read some of the comments and it's just not all positive. So I thought I would ask for some opinions on here. What cameras do you all use? I don't HAVE to have a DSLR...but if I get a point and shoot camera I want it to be good! I want something that will take crisp, clear shots, isn't huge and is simple enough to operate that if I pass it off to someone else they can snap a picture of me. Please help me out!!! I can't do another year of grainy images printed from my iPhone! Thanks in advance!

A DSLR is only going to be beneficial if the operator knows how to use it and if they want to take advantage of swapping lens. Otherwise, it is simply a giant point and shoot. Of course, the lens on a DSLR might be better than a point and shoot, but most people can't tell a difference between an iPhone photo and a DSLR photo using automatic settings.

For still shots, I'm a Nikon fan. If I was to purchase a point and shoot camera, I would go with, or something similar to, the Nikon Coolpix S9900. The main reasons for this camera are the high native ISO (1600 native in auto; light sensitivity; better shots in low light), the 4.5-135mm focal length on the lens (4.5=wide angle, everything in between, 135=moderate telephoto(zoom)), and relative small size. Obviously, Canon and other brands will make a similar camera but the S9900 is just an example.

Respectfully, unless you are or plan on being trained in some form as a photographer and have editing software for RAW format images, a DSLR is not going to be beneficial. Unlike the old days, point and shoot cameras today take VERY good photographs. They are also a lot lighter than DSLRs which means you won't have to lug a heavy camera around the parks all day wishing you had never even bought it. After a couple of hours in the park or anywhere, my DSLR cameras just seem too much of a burden.

I have a Nikon D3200 and a Nikon L830. While I enjoy my D3200, I do not use it for Disney. I use my L830 because it has amazing zoom and the pictures look great. Its also lighter and I do not have to carry around multiple lens.

I would encourage you to look into mirrorless! The technology has advanced so much that you get the same quality as DSLR but with much less bulk and weight which is perfect for the parks! My photography teachers both switched to mirrorless as they say they get the same quality and like the portability. I love love love my Sony a5100 and it's perfect for my needs (I blog too) and small enough to put in my purse and take with me everywhere. I can switch out lenses to fit the picture I'm going for as well. Whatever you buy make it one where you can switch out the lenses so the camera can go with you as you improve. The Sony a6000 is known to be one of the best cameras out there but I went with the 5100 to have the selfie flip screen - if you wouldn't use that then the 6000 is an excellent choice. I did not get the add on zoom lens and regret it for what that's worth. If you have the budget for it there are certainly even better cameras out there such as the Sony A7R which pros love but I was going for more entry level. I have a DSLR, but prefer to take my point and shoot to Disney. I use a TG-3 from Olympus (believe there is now a TG-4) . Waterproof, drop proof, and GREAT pictures. I've used it on my last 2 trips and on my Disney cruise. It is great because you can take some incredible pictures on water rides, which I'd never do with my DSLR

Thanks everyone for all the input, I ended up getting the Nikon coolpix p900…its a BIG camera, but so far, i'm loving what it can do! I've got to find a cross body camera strap for it before we go next month as i took it on a day trip last weekend and my neck strap wasn't working ahahah
