Opinions on flight time

I am ready to buy my tickets, but am undecided about my return flight time. I can depart from Orlando at 8:15 or 12:15. The later flight is $30.00 more per person. There are only two of us. We would get back home at either 11:00 or 3:00 depending on the flight we choose. Then, home is about another 2 hours from the airport. I do have to work the next day. What flight would you pick? Magical Express at 5:15 a.m. seems really really early lol.

I'm not a morning person, so I'd pick the later one. That's way too early to get up. With the later flight, you could get up and have breakfast before going to the airport.

Knowing that I had to go to work the next day (and you have a 2 hour drive from the airport), I'd take the earlier flight.

One thing to consider is that the earlier the flight the less chance you have for delays as the day progresses. Rarely, these days, do flights seem to remain on time as the day progresses on. You have very good chance that your 8:15 flight will leave on time. However, your noon flight could easily be pushed an hour later as things tend to go. Especially if it is summer and there are storms.

If I have to go to work the day after the trip, I just don't want to be getting in on the late side and then trying to wind down to get to sleep. The earlier the better.

I would take the later flight. Even if your flight's delayed an hour or so, you'd still be home by 6-7 p.m. Plenty of time to get ready for work the next day. I would hate to have to get up and ready to leave by 5:30 a.m. :scared1: Leaving around 9:30 would be so much nicer.

I would choose the later flight, I did an early flight once last year and I said never again. I had a 4 am pick up with DME and was exhausted.

If I had to get on DME that early in the morning, I'd likely just try to get a very late flight out the night before and save a night's hotel cost. I'd pay the extra $60.00 for the later flight. Don't forget that if you're travelling on an airline that has some kind of check-in 24 hours prior to your flight (like Southwest or the free seating assignments on I think it's Air Tran?) then you'll be doing that also at 8:15 vs 12:15 the day before.
