It looks like they have a better rate than what I'm currently getting with Alamo but they don't have the kiosk check-in so I would need to go by the counter to check in.

What is anyone's opinion on Dollar at MCO that's used them before? Any issues or complaints? Extra fees that showed up when you were expecting?

I love Dollar out of MCO, great service, nice car, good rate. I have not used the Kiosk though. Last year the reps were all standing around with no customers and fought over me when I walked into the area. My paperwork was ready ( I am in ther loyalty program, makes it faster), they swiped my CC and gave me the keys. It was less then 5 minutes to I was in the car pulling out of the lot. The year before I had to wait like 3 minutes and was done in less then 10.

Well that's good to hear. You don't get pick out your rental car like with some of the other companies?

I always use Dollar. I use promo code KISSE and get great deals.

Like the previous poster, I was all by myself in line when I went to get my car (Approx 11:00am on a Friday) the last time I went. Ive used them about 3 times and never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I used Alamo once and was shuttled to their terminal and waited in line close to an hour to get the keys and paperwork. I then had to wait another 20 mintes for a "golf cart" to take me to the car. Dollar is NOTHING like that. Their cars and agents are right downstairs at the MCO airport....very convenient.

Yes, you can definitely pick your own car. We got a minivan the last time and now are renting a mid size, as there are only 3 of us. I considered a compact or economy, but the price difference for a week was only $6 to upgrade to the midsize..so I did it.

Good luck!

Seems like the Orlando and Convention code from Mousesavers.com gets the best rate.

I have used dollar and they were just fine. I prefer alamo, they have check in kiosks and you can walk down the isle of whatever car class you reserve and choose your own car. At dollar we were assigned a car. Just a preference. Oh and the line at dollar one time took an hour to get through! the agency next door to them was offering to match peoples price if they wanted to get out of line.

How many years ago was that? Alamo is located at the terminal just like Dollar.

The last time I rented from Dollar they assigned me a car I didn't get to just go out and pick one.

When was the last time you used Dollar?

Does anyone who's rented from Dollar recently know if you get to pick a car or if they assign you a vehicle?

I have a dollar question too, I just rebooked with them for an upcoming trip. I am a little worried about the hard insurance sell that I have read many people talk about.

Does this always seem to be a problem with Dollar? If you are stern with a "NO, I AM COVERED!" do they just leave it alone?

Thanks.

We just rented a car from Dollar (Orlando) in June. Because we didn't bring our insurance card, we were told we were REQUIRED to purchase their insurance. This was a new one for me...not sure if something changed, but I NEVER brought my card with me anywhere and always declined the coverage. So...we got the bare minimum. Return the car, check it all out, get the thumbs up from the car tech at the airport, and a month later, we get a bill for $250! States that we were in an accident. Since we didn't get the full coverage, I freaked out that they were trying to scam us, and we would have no recourse. Turns out, the form showing all the damage was signed by the customer...and it wasn't our signature. My husband immediately got on the phone with them, the customer service rep pulled up the photos of the damage they have on file, and he couldn't see any damage. So we aren't sure if they just mixed our car up with another car or if they were trying to pull a fast one. Anyway...lesson learned...I'll be bringing my own insurance card from now on and NOT taking ANY of their insurance.

Yikes! That is scary!I haven't cancelled my other car yet, I am glad I didn't. I am not planning on purchasing their insurance by any means. Hmm.....

Well that sucks to hear, it sounds like it might be worth the price different to stick with my Alamo rental and cancel my Dollar rental.

I have rented from Dollar several times at MCO, most recently last September. I am renting from them this coming September as well. Getting the car has always been painless-no more than ten minutes in line, and usually loading up the car shortly thereafter. I have never had a hard sell on insurance there, unlike with Hertz.

The only comment I will make is that, sometimes, the cars I have rented have been...nearing the end of the useful rental life. The interiors are a little dinged up, maybe a burn hole in the seat or something-still completely useful and adequate, but not necessarily "really nice".
