opinions on coral reef

We ate there this past May and we loved it!! Do u have any kids in your party? If so, on their menu they get to chose an appetizer which the lobster bisque was on there so I ate my dd's, I ordered a caesar salad that was great, and the shrimp and pasta. It was delicious and we had our ADR for 4:00 in the afternoon. We loved watching all the 3000 fish in the tank.

I personally loved the ambiance, but I didn't like the menu at all:sad2:

I wish it had more of a Red Lobster type menu instead of more gormet type food. I'm sorry to say, that we won't be going back because of the menu.

But that's not to say you won't like it - you may love it!!!
Enjoy your trip!!! :cool1:

We were there this past May 2007. We went for lunch, waited exactly five minutes with an ADR. We had excellent service from Jan. DD11 chose the best entree - the mahi-mahi over Israeli couscous. I had the blackened catfish - it tasted very good and spicy but the texture, along with the cheese grits, took a little getting used to. I was disappointed in the lobster bisque but enjoyed the beef appetizer. DH had the Tilapia - it was good but not memorable. DS12 had the BBQ salmon sandwich which was very good The molten chocolate wave cake was excellent.

While the restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the activity in the aquarium, its not a must-do on every trip as are Artist Point, Kona Cafe, Boma and Le Cellier.

Jan our server was very attentive to DD who was celebrating her birthday on that trip - brought her a special cupcake with lit candle.

I'm glad you booked for the view because the food is horrible.

Is this based on an experience within the past 6 months? The reason I ask is that the food used to be considered pretty bad but with a new chef and menu, I am told the quality has gone up considerably. That is why we decided to give it a chance this year. I was not disappointed just not knocked off my feet.

No, they haven't changed the menu so we aren't going back. The food we had was dreadful, we had to wait far too long in a place where there was no seating. The view was lovely, we were right against the tank, but other than that the atmosphere was shopworn and kind of not clean. We never complained or said one bad word against it but when they brought the check the server said they could see there was a problem with our entrees so they didn't charge us for them. So I'll give them points for knowing the food was bad. I can't come up with any chance we'd go back actually, it was that bad. There are just so many better places that I wouldn't risk it again. I'm glad to hear they got a new chef though, it's a place I'm sure lots of people would love if the food is improved.
