I'll be making my family's ADRs in a couple weeks and am wanting opinions/critiques. We decided to go ahead and purchase the dining plan and I'm okay with it not really saving us much money, so getting the most bang for our buck isn't really a concern. We are just wanting to eat yummy food and enjoy a good atmosphere. I'll be traveling with my husband and my 4 year old son. My husband and I are adventurous eaters and will try anything, but my son is rather picky. We'll be staying 6 nights at AKL.

I've whittled my list down to these 6 TS restaurants:

Crystal Place - breakfast
Tusker House - breakfast
Boma - dinner
Raglan Road - dinner
Coral Reef - lunch
San Angel Inn - dinner

What do you guys think? Some others I was really debating are Biergarten, Akerhus, Sci Fi, Rose and Crown, and the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package. Are any of these a lot better than what I decided on?

Any tips or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

For your son, the Character meals that you chose are good choices, IMO. I don't see a restaurant in DHS, but if you are thinking about seeing !Fantasmic, i woudl suggest getting MM Fantasmic DIning package. I know you are not worried about maximizing the plan, but this meal is a win-win for both food and value.

We liked Raglan Road a lot. This trip we chose not to go because as much as we enjoyed it, we have the two little girls from our street with us and I am not sure we would all survive! LOL!!!

We have San Angel Inn on our ADR's this trip, but I have never had a meal there.

I loved Boma! There was a nice assortment of items that were familiar and those that were not.

In Epcot, we love Rose & Crown, and never miss going there. On the last trip my DSIL was ill and could not join us so my DD booked it twice for lunch this time!

I would skip Akershus. I am taking the girls this time, but for breakfast. Unless you son is into the Princesses, I would choose something else. You already have three buffet meals on your list so I would opt for several meals that are not.

Coral Reef seems to get a lot of mixed reviews, but we had a very good meal there and plan on going back real soon.
If you choose to drop one of your selections, Mama Melrose was also very good when we ate there. I had the chicken parm. It was a very good meal.

It really depends on your personal taste. I like to read the menus and go to places where I find a couple of entrees I would enjoy. You really cant go wrong at Disney. The restaurant themes are great and food, in most places, is above average.

As for your picks, I wouldnt pick any of them (and didnt for my upcoming 12 day trip on the deluxe plan with 2 TS per day!)! But that is just me :) Im sure there are millions of people who wouldnt go to the places I pick! (I do like San Angel Inn, but it just didnt make the cut this trip) Im sure youve done your homework, so go with what you think your family would like best.

Have a great trip :)

I keep going back and forth about Mama Melrose! We love Fantasmic! at Disneyland and will be seeing it a few months before our trip to WDW. I decided we could skip it on this trip and go to Raglan Road that night instead (probably the only day we'll make it to Downtown Disney). But the menu and preferred seating are really appealing... Decisions, descisons!

I'm really glad you say that about Coral Reef, because it's the one restaurant on my final list that I am worried about. I've read so many differing opinions! But my son LOVES going to the aquarium, so I think we will enjoy it for the ambiance if nothing else. And the menu looks yummy to me! Hopefully we catch them on a good day.

We love the Tusker House breakfast, it's one of our favorites! Would suggest Crystal Palace dinner instead of breakfast, we just like the food better for dinner. The food/service can be hit or miss at Coral Reef, we've had some of our best and worse meals there. I do think that you're son will love the aquarium, though! Haven't eaten at the other restaurants that you mentioned so can't comment on those.

Normally we try to mix it up with ADR's on our visits.........however, we had such a great experience at Tusker House during our Sept 2014 we've added it again for our trip during the WDW Marathon 2016. The characters are great but its the food that really shined for us! So much fruit!!! So many choices...................we really loved it!

I am a big fan of Biergarten. That goes all the way back to Epcot opening and my inability to get in. Lunch is a bit cheaper and only a couple of things are added for dinner. There are musicians playing periodically between 12:30 and 8:00. It's the polka playing oompah band that most people associate with Germany.

I'm not much of a fan of Coral Reef. The view is nice in some spots, but the food has never impressed me.

Tusker, Crystal Palace, Boma and Raglan Road are good choices.

I think San Angel has improved. The tables are very close together, or more correctly crowded.

I think your choices look great!
Crystal Palace is our all time favourite character meal. My DD's have always loved Pooh and friends - still do even though they are teens now. This is a must do. Try Pooh's puffed french toast and made to order omelettes.
Tusker House is an amazing breakfast with variety - it has Mickey waffles too! The juice is the absolute best - so delicious.
We are big fans of Boma- we have two picky eaters and two adventurous eaters in our group and Boma fits the bill for everyone. The soups are especially good. Plus, you are staying at AKL, so it's location for you is perfect (the only downside of Boma for us is using Disney transportation since we don't stay at AKL).
Food is 'ok' at Coral Reef, but I'm guessing that your son will love the aquarium. You can request a table close to aquarium.
Raglan Road- haven't been here yet but hope to one day.
San Angel Inn- we have this booked for the first time this August. I am hearing really good things about it and the atmosphere is fabulous. We are going to ride 'The 3 Cabelleros" ride before / after our meal.
We do like Mama Melrose Fantasmic! Package - includes an appetizer and great seat location at Fantasmic!

Have a great trip.

Personally I would avoid SciFi and Akerhus, but highly recommend Rose and Crown. Others look good. Enjoy!
