Opinions needed:stay at OKW or switch to BWV?

Our visit this August will be 8 nights at VWL (our home resort, which we love), and currently 3 nights at OKW. We've stayed there before and really like it. We like the different configuration of the rooms and the quietness of the resort. But DH is thinking that maybe we should try something new and go to BWV those last three nights. We would only have enough points for a standard view.

Some questions:
How is the pool and slide at BWV? (If OKW hadn't put in a slide I know my kids would want BWV, but now it's a toss up).

Will it be too brutally hot in August to walk over to Epcot from BWV? And how about the boardwalk itself? Is it too hot in August to enjoy it?

How about kid's activities at either resort?

So any opinions would be greatly appreciated for either resort. Thank you!!! :p

you might be too late for a standard view at BWV in Aug - ask MS before you decide.

I love OKW!!!

however if you never stayed in BWV - then go for it!!!

the BW doesn't really start up until dark - so the heat is generally not a problem.

I would take the boat to Epcot and Studios the first couple of days - then after I adjusted to the heat - walk over. Oh forgot you will be staying at VWL first....So you will be adjusted to the heat. So your decision.

the Clown slides at BWV gets old ....

However the community hall, behind the quiet pool, does not. It has a lot for kids to do. much more than the other DVC resorts.

I would say the slides are the same - just the theming that's different. I think the BWV pool is larger and easier to get to than the OKW one. If you are in a remote building - you will have to walk in the heat or take the bus. If you are at BWV you walk down the air conditioned hallway and go 20' in the outside to get to it.

If it's too hot to walk to Epcot, then it's probably too hot to be walking around in Epcot?

Good luck getting SV in August only 4 months out. I will be very happy for you if you get it.

I love the boardwalk at night - the entertainment is wonderful. This last trip, my DGS7 kept asking to go back to see the jugglers and card trick guys. With no sun to bake you, you should be just fine.

Add to the BoardWalk - the bakery, the ice cream place, the large store and ESPN.

I know my decision would be easy!

The BW slide and pool are much better than the WL pool and slide(for space and fun-WL looks a bit nicer). I just got back from 5 days at BWV and 4 days at VWL and spent multiple days at both pools. Havn't been on the new OKW slide.

If you enjoy taking the boat to MK then you will love BWV as you can take a boat to both Epcot and DS.

Haven't stayed at OKW or BWV - toured both though. But my opinon comes in IF you are considering adding on someplace. We are entertaining that idea now, and I wish to goodness we could say we'd stayed at all the resorts we are considering. So,

If you are considering adding on at BWV in the near future, I'd say try that resort out. Otherwise, seems fine to stay at one of the places you already know and love :goodvibes
