Opinions needed- Poly concierge

Myself, DW, my sister and BIL are staying at the Poly in Sept. and right now we have ressies for 2 garden view rooms. I called today and got the rooms upgraded to concierge as a nice little surprise for the 3 of them. My question is, should i not tell them about the upgrade till we get there or tell them now because the pre-concierge experience is a good time. None of us have ever stayed concierge before so we have no idea about Disney calling us ahead of time or any of that stuff. My sister is a bidder Disney fanatic than me and would probably enjoy concierge staff calling her and doing PS's for us. Is the experience with concierge before you get there worth ruining the surprise and telling them now?

We are headed back to the Polynesian in just a few weeks and are staying concierge for the second year in a row. I almost tried to do the same thing with my wife (the trip is her 30th birthday present) but decided that since she gets the mail long before I get home I would never be able to pull it off. Personnaly I LOVE the idea of having it be a surprise - just image the look on their faces when you arrive and instead of having to go inside to check in you would be wisked off to the concierge building and the privat check-in. So my vote would be keep it as a surprise if you can but either way have a WONDERFUL trip

That's true. It would be an awsome surprise to discover your staying cl upon arrival but think about all the fun she would have talking with the cl staff and planning ressies.........It's a hard choice tell or not. good luck and have a great trip. You all will love I repeat love cl @ Poly. Wish I were going too.

We love the Polynesian Concierge, they are a great group of people and are VERY good at their jobs. I like surprises, always have so I would vote for letting it be a surprise. It's a shame you can't keep the surprise until you arrive at the Polynesian and are taken straight to the Hawaii Building instead of the main front desk... but one MUST make PS in advance...
