OK here's the story...stick with me ok..lol
We are heading down to WDW late August..it is a very special trip and we are taking MIL, SIL and nephews down with us, it will be very nice...but we will be using our '08 and '09 points to do this...that is fine with us.
DH has a bit of a break in late Feb(hes a Police officer and coaches 2 high school sports) and i thought it would be nice to surprise him and my girls with a little trip to WDW at that time..obviously we dont have any points (used our '07 for our trip in August) to use..SOOO would you call and pay rack rates at a non DVC resort OR find someone to rent me points and squeeze into a studio(to save money)???? If we do get there in Feb i would buy APs for all of us, since we would be going again in August...
So what do you think?????:goodvibes Thanks so much!!!!:santa:

I think you will be better off renting points for a 1BR for member transfer (easy and you are in control of your own reservation) than squeezing into a non-DVC room on cash or squeezing into a studio. But if you are going to go with one room regardless, I'd still rent points and go with a DVC studio. It will be a lot less than a comparable hotel room at one of the deluxes.

We had points transferred once and it was really easy.

Have you travelled extensively with the inlaws? There are many post on the DIS about DVC members being disappointed with trips with extended family.

Yes we have gone on vacation with MIL and SIL a bunch of times..they are great!!!
I contacted 2 people on the rent /trade board to inquire about points...im a bit nervous, but we'll see...i really dont want to spend a ton of money!!

check out some of the deals advertised on the home page http://www.wdwinfo.com/

Sheraton Vistinana Villages 2 BR for $95

Swan/Dolphin for $145

If this is just a "little" trip and not your main WDW vacation, this is what I'd look at. Or possibly value hotels on site.

You could try off site. I have done that many times when point and cash light. I like Cypress Pointe through hotelkingdom.com and www.windsorhillsrent.com This does require a car rental though. Run the numbers and see if this is cheaper for you. With an AP you don't pay the parking fee at the theme parks.
