Opinions needed: Is it better to save points or use points to enter sweeps?

I have started using many different loyalty and check in web sites and apps such as mycokerewards, mpoint, ect. I have been saving up these points so that I could use them to "purchace" gift cards. However, I've started wondering if that is the best plan. While saving points up to get a gauraunteed gift card seems like a good idea, on most of these sights you need alot of point to get small gift cards. These sights usually have the options of using the point for sweepstakes, often for the chance to win bigger value gift cards. Is it better to save points for a definate but small dollar amount gift card. Or is fairly likely that if you keep using your points towards sweepstakes that you will win a larger value gift card every once in a while. Do those of you who particiapate in these points sites find you do better saving points or entering sweeps.

I suppose part of the decision is personality. I refuse to spend my 'money' on risks/gambling when I can spend them on a sure thing. So I never enter sweepstakes on MyCoke, Swagbucks, etc.... I have automatically won entries on mPoints but I don't buy entries with coins.
Same reason I never play the lottery or gamble in real life. Money is too hard to come by to gamble it away, in my opinion.

I'm with Narnia girl. When I first got the mPlaces app, I didn't really understand it yet and I 'purchased' entries for a Starbucks sweepstakes. It didn't take me long to realize that was a waste of points. Now I just save them up for SB.

I sometimes enter sweepstakes on MyCokeRewards for very large prizes like $25,000 or a trip to Europe. But that's mostly because there is never anything I want to redeem my points for on that site. On sites like mPoints and swagbucks where I can get Target or Amazon gift cards, I won't waste my points entering sweepstakes.
