Opinions: Grad Nite or Monday in June

If you had one day in June would you rather go on a Monday (maybe post weekend crowds) or a Wednesday with a grad nite? I'm looking at 12th or 14th and we'd have park hoppers if that factors in your advice at all.

We've never been in June and I know the crowds will be crazy either way but is there any reason for doing one over the other? We usually try to do mid week when we go but I don't know if that makes a difference in the summer.

Thanks!

Are you park-hopping or just hitting DL?

I will say that last year it seemed like the grad night days were a lot emptier at DL during the day; I assume this is because lots of people planned to avoid DL on those days. So if you're hopping, that could work out for you.

Edited to change confusing wording.

Thanks! We'll have hoppers. What do you mean about losing the hours? Is it because of the day of the week or because of grad night?

Yeah, I was unclear there, sorry; I'll edit. When I was there on a grad night last year, it got crowded at DL in the evening because all the grads seemed to want to get their time in before getting shuffled over to DCA, so we felt like we "had" to hop over to DCA for part of the evening to avoid the ruckus. If we hadn't had the option, we would have kind of wasted a few hours.

That was just our experience on that one particular day; normally I'm just there in the mornings. :-)

Got it! Makes sense. Thanks for sharing your experience!
We are mostly park morning people too but I am taking each of my girls for a day alone with me for their birthdays so this will be a first long day for us!

Monday. If you want to do anything in DL after 6pm (fireworks, PTN) it can be insanity on a Grad Nite. DCA always closes 1-2 hours before DL & you can hop back to DL for late night rides. That won't be an option on Grad Nite. Well technically it IS an option but in reality DL is super packed in the last couple hours because all the grads have arrived. They don't all clear out of DL once their party starts btw, when we were there a lot stuck around to close DL down and then hop over to DCA.

I may be in the minority, but we've been during 3 Grad Nights and it didn't seem any crazier than a "normal" already busy day in June. I've read trip reports from WDW where they have cheerleading competitions at the onsite ESPN sports park and everyone's in cheer gear and doing cheers on the buses, cheers in lines at rides, cheers walking around the parks. It ain't like that! It's high school kids, of which it should be added, are a pretty normal sight anyways at a Disney Park. They are, for the most part, respectful. Ok, they are no more or less respectful than a lot of adults that go to DLR!

I wouldn't let it sway me, if Monday is better go Monday, if Wednesday is better for your planning go Wednesday. Either way you will have a fantastic trip! Enjoy Disneyland!

Thanks all! I think we will go with Monday, mostly because it fits our schedule better but sounds like it will work out well too. Thanks for all the advice!
