How is the experience at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge? Do people eat there only for the entertainment? Is the food good? And lastly, is there so much going on that you can't enjoy the meal? Let me know what you think.

We ate there in 2003. The food was good, prices reasonable. The entertainment was fun. When we went it really wasn't horribly loud, although I guess it could be at certain times. We enjoyed ourselves.

We just ate there on our trip in Nov/Dec. The food was good. We had NO entertainment. (we had a server who was training and scared) I saw others with more animated servers and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. We have only had lunch there, but are planning another trip in Feb and we have a PS there. (there are 18 of us going) So if you want I can let you know after that how dinner is.

We ate dinner in November 2003. The food was good and everyone had a great time. My DS5 was hoarse the next day after yelling for ketchup. I thought that the servers did a great job of managing the pace of the interaction to allow everyone to finish their meals. You do have to some what ignore what is happening at other tables.

The food was great!! We got the all you can eat platter for me and my DH, and my 2 kids got chicken tenders, it cost us around $70, but well worth it!!! The cornbread was great and we never ran out of food!! Our server was good and she kept the kids entertained while we finished up eating. We played several games and the kids did the horse race. Don't forget to ask for the ketchup!!!

We ate there Dec 12. The resturant was really loud when we arrived. As our meal went on it seem to quiet down. We all had the all-u-can eat. The food was good and they kept it filled. The food was good, the milkshakes awesome, and the desserts wonderful. We had a great waitress who made us all hats and kept us all entertained. It was well worth it and would go back again.

We ate there in August on a Friday night, about 6-ish. Our server, Coyote Kate, was nice but did not get into the act at all. We ordered the BBQ chicken wing appetizer and it was HUGE! Full pieces of chicken wings, not the tiny ones you get from that restaurant with the scantily clad women, (not that there's anything wrong with that), coated with a honey BBQ sauce. There were awesome! The cornbread is very good, also. We also had a couple of the very large alcoholic drinks, which were very good as well.

I have eaten at Whispering Canyon twice. Once for breakfast and the other for dinner. The breakfast was delicious and we were among the 1st seated, so the antics hadn't gotten into high gear. If they had, we likely would not have taken our extended family there for dinner.

If you are at all embarrassed by someone making a fool out of you, this is NOT the place to go. I thought my mom and SIL were going to take the server out back and shoot him. He couldn't take the hint that they were not enjoying themselves... it made it very uncomfortable for all of us.

The food at Breakfast was REALLY good, but we were disappointed with the dinner. The ribs were really dry, but the chicken was good.

Of course, we haven't been since 2000, so the food quality may have improved, but the antics go on and on and on..........

We ate dinner on Dec 4th. The food was good, but the portions were large. My DD9 had the kids platter which would have been enough food for 2. My kids loved yelling ketchup! My MIL had a hat made like bunny ears and my DH had a nice knot hat on. We had a great time and would highly recommend it!

I ate there on the 4th as well but for lunch, and they had ketchup bottles on every table so no fun there.

The food was good and we did have a good server - entertained us, or well me anyway and made my friend turn about 4 shades of red, and this occured when he was harassing me.

We had straws thrown at us, I had a blanket wrapped around me because I was cold, complete with the comment of "will someone take this girl upstairs and dress her properly, she must not be from around here".

Great fun! I am going to take my family there next year!

We had breakfast there on Dec. 3 with a party of 12. Almost all of the adult s ordered the all you can eat skillet, and I thought the food was very good. They brought us two skillets and it did take a while to get more when we asked for a second skillet. My BIL (who isn't crazy about such restaurants) kept making comments like "Maybe they should spend more time making our food and less time playing games!", but that's just him.

I would definitely go back.

for me it is the exact opposite of an enjoyable dining experience! I have been there 3 times, and each time i swear "never again"!Just a matter of personal preference. I think what they do they do well, it is just not for me.

Just ate there on Sunday noght. It is noisy but it's a lot of fun. The food, we thought, was real good.... cornbread, chicken penne pasta and chocolate cake. Our 11 ds really had a good time, too, especially when they needed catsup at another table. Not a place to go for a nice quiet dinner, but if you want some fun, try it!!

Anyone have a server request they can give me? We are a group of 18 and all loud and silly. (ok maybe just I am but you know what I mean...)
Thanks in advance

Yes, ask for Heada Lettuce... she is a trip!

I have heard her name before, but it was in post from a while back. I was not sure if if she was still around. Thanks for the info.

Happy Holidays

DH and I have eaten there about 4 times--each time we ate breakfast there. If you like a hearty breakfast, omelets, etc. Whispering Canyon Cafe is definitly the place to go. Dh and I LOVE it and cannot wait to eat breakfast there in Februaury (and we're NOT breakfast food people!).

BTW, in our experience, the antics in the morning are entertaining but in no way were they off-putting. We don't intend on eating dinner there because I have heard many less than stellar reports about dinner there (maybe too loud?). We will stick to our perfect WL breakfast!

Hope this helps!

DS and I went on December 11 for dinner. I was not impressed. I really have no idea who our server was as we had 3 people ask for our drink orders, and variety of others taking care of our needs. DS ordered the skillet and was not given the coleslaw that is supposed to come with it, so he asked for it. The guy said it was cabbage and cream and gross, did he still want it, DS said he did, so he brought back a tiny dish of it. The meat in the skillet was smoked and gross, if you ask me. I had the meatloaf, it was all right. I was highly disappointed with the interaction, and I will not go back again.

We have been there several times. Breakfast is good and a little quiter than other meals. The all you can eat skillet is good for lunch or dinner but go very hungry. We like the BBQ and the chicken that comes on the platter. Mashed potatoes and cornbread are very good as well. It is loud at times but not overbearing. Lots of fun. Oh yeah, DD likes the ribs. And baked beans are good also.

Have fun and approach with a sense of whimsy.
