Opinions about golf carts.

Generaly the $50 is "rental" on the trailer. Most companies that work this way only have a couple of trailers but lots of golf carts, thus you have to return it as soon as possible.

Check out my FW website where I review the offsite company I just used. The key to most of them is that you generally only save money after a rental of a week or more.

Thanks for the advice everyone and for the information on other places to rent golf carts I may check them out. I did decide to go ahead and call Fort Wilderness and reserve a cart, I can cancel up to 24 hours in advance. You do get a 10% discount for renting for 7 nights or more so I am actually getting 7 nights for $290.00. However, I may decide to change and only get it for 2 or 3 days when I make my plans for what days we will be at the parks. Now I just have to think of a way to tell my dh that he has to come up with $300.00 more for this. :guilty: Thanks! again everyone.

Would a golf cart fit in the back of a full size Dodge Truck? I know you would need ramps. Or is a trailer a must? I hope this is not a stupid question but I am just not a golf cart type of person!! :confused3

If you are correct about the $225 on the website for The Carriage Golf Cart..and then $40 or $50 fee to bring it back and forth...that seems just about what she will pay getting it for the week from Disney..with the 10% discount.($290.00) Doesn't seem worth the $15.00 savings to have to worry about getting it elsewhere. Although it's good to know about...especially if someone were to be there for a longer period, it might make more sense to go that route.

Only if you can jump that bad-boy cart up that high :Pinkbounc

We bring ours in the back of our full size truck. We have a Ford F350 diesel dually. The ramps work well getting it up and down. I won't do it because I am afraid of missing the ramp! Hubby seems to have no problem.

Is your truck a long bed or the standard 6 1/2 ft ?

didya say Howdy to Sundee for me last week ?

Hi All,

Here's another dissenting opinion of the golf carts. My family camped at FW in June '04 for 10 days. Beautiful campground and we throroughly enjoyed our spot in Loop 1400. I felt the teenagers using the carts were speeding and I was constantly worried about my two kids, ages 5 and 8 walking around the loop. There were a few times when the kids were riding around past 11pm...no adults in sight. Another annoyance were the motorized scooters...again, pre-teens and teenagers that did a lot of joy riding and we didn't feel they were being as cautious around people walking the loops and pathways.

I don't feel the expense justified the use.

RE: the speed. Actually the new green golf carts have less get up and go than the old white ones. I was told by bike barn peeps they did this on purpose.
They really need to crack down on speeding AND kids playing in the streets. Its a two way thing. I've seen way too many parents letting toddlers (literally babes) play out on the loop road UNATTENDED!!! Then theres some peeps that won't even tell the kidlets to move when cars/rvs are coming through. I mean the loop is a roadway. There are plenty of playground/pastures at FT W.

Last time I got a survery card I addressed both these issues. Ft W needs more security to keep kids out of harms way and to crack down on speeding motorist.
Even with the bus stops, big cars/trucks blow through them even though they tell you to treat Disney buses like a school bus. A few months ago, a large diesel truck ran a stop bus and almost crashed into our golf cart. We were giving stopped bus right of way and the idiot flew around bus and almost on top of us, I was able to swerve and he missed us by inches. I turned around and chased the truck in our golf car. He got held up by traffic, anyway Miami tag number (south florida driving school LOL). Went to front out post with all info to speak to the manager who was obviously too busy to take my info. Anyway I did get this info to the proper authorities at WDW along with the info that the park peeps seemed not to care.
All they had to do was do a state search on the tag number and cross reference their reservations to go talk to this jerk.
Sorry for the rant, but I was happy to see on the home page that law enforcement is now on disney property. Anway be careful on the roadways coz there ARE morons there.

BigDisneyDaddy,

As a matter of fact, the first thing I told Ms. Sundee was that you said hello and her face lit up with that big grin of hers. I hope we get to meet in March/April (not sure what your dates are). My truck is a long bed. When the cart is loaded, we have to store the bikes in the camper, that is the only drawback. The cart takes up the whole bed. We do take the tailgate off on most trips.

I was planning on bringing our bikes (2 boys7 & 8, DH and I) Wouldn't these be just as easy and less expensive to get around as the carts?? :moped:

Our plan is to be in the 1100 or 1200 loop. We are supposed to arrive on good friday (25th). we leave for home :guilty: on April 2nd

We will definetly be at the campfire that night (and most every other night)
My wife usually claps and whistles a lot during the performance.

seeya there !
