Opinion on Bosch Dishwasher

My dishwasher that we have came with the house and our house was built in 1996 so I am guessing it 18 year old and the racks are rusting.

So I am in the market for a new QUIET one. I see that Bosch makes a 44 decibel one that is the 800 series, stainless steal inside and out.

Was looking for opinions from others who have a bosch dishwasher.

I don't post in here often but we have a Bosh dishwasher and love it. It cleans our dishes so well, and it is so quiet! Our last one was so loud we could not have it on if we were in the living room watching tv. This one we barely hear it.
Well worth the money.

We also have a Bosch and love it. Very quiet, we can sit 5 feet away and watch tv with no problems. I've never had any problems with things not being clean.

Another vote in favor of the Bosch... everyone I know has them and loves them. When I remodeled my kitchen a couple of years ago, I didn't even consider another brand. Mine is the 800 series with the third rack for silverware... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

We moved into an older house and needed to replace the dw. We bought a Bosch and it was so quiet, people would try to open the dw while it was running. After about 5 years we did a whole kitchen remodel and replaced the Bosch with an integrated (wood panel front to match the cabinets) set of dishwasher drawers. My SIL wanted our Bosch so we gave it to her. It's still going strong and it's now about 11 years old. It gets some heavy use at her house. The only issue we had was that the drawer for putting soap in broke after about a year. We never bothered to fix it and just tossed the soap in. That's what my SIL's family does, too.

Anyway, I like my Fisher Paykel dishdrawers but they aren't as quiet as the Bosch. They've also needed repair work, which I never had to do with the Bosch.

My parents have a Miele and have had nothing but problems. The person that has come to the house to fix (numerous times) says that he is constantly being called to fix both Miele and Bosch, and that he highly recommends an American brand like Kitchen Aid, Kenmore, GE, etc over either Miele or Bosch. I think it's like buying a Volvo or a Saab - it can be great, but beware if it needs parts or repairs!

We have had a Bosch for 15 years, not impressed with the quaility.
Rack holders would not hold the racks. After a few years the timer would randomly stick in the wash cycle.
Parts are expensive.
We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel, and we are not buying another Bosch. Even the cheapest dishwasher is as quiet now. All the contractor appliance suppliers are now FORMER Bosch dealers, so I suspect I am not alone.

Those who have a Bosch do you have the 500 or 800 series? I see the Jensen commented that she has the 800. But anyone else have the 500 or 800?

I am dishwasher shopping, too, and just read an article on the Consumer Reports website about a Bosch being their pick. But, when you read reviews from real people, it's a different story - people repeatedly said they didn't hold as much as their old dishwasher, the prongs that hold plates were very close together and would not hold anything but thin dishes (I guess that means stoneware is out?), when opened, the lower rack would very easily roll off the dishwasher door and onto the floor due to nothing stopping it, the lower rack layout being such that it's difficult to load anything there other than plates, and something else I can't remember. So, while I want a Bosch to be the bomb diggity for me, I'm not so sure at this point.

I see the 800 series says the prongs on the bottom rack will fold down! Good for putting pot is.

Think I need to go to the store and look at the rack configuration because my dishes are pretty thick

I have a Bosch. It was put in during a remodel in 2007 by the previous owners. It's probably the cheapest model. It's by far the worst dishwasher I've ever owned. Poorly designed and cleans terribly. I've had much better luck with GE. Won't be sad when this one dies.

You're very welcome. My husband and I visit the dishwashers at Lowe's (our only local appliance source) with some regularity, and I am currently salivating over the Bosch that has the tray above the top rack for big/flat utensils.

The last time I dishwasher-shopped, I lugged around a cookie sheet to try out in the floor models, to make sure my biggest item would fit. I may have looked funny, but it was important!

Too funny. Think this weekend we will be at Lowes to check them out. I think I am gravitating toward that 800 series with the fold down prongs on the bottom rack.

We've moved enough to have had different brands: Bosch was one of our tops along with Kitchenaid. Our Whirpool and GE both rusted out racks within 2 years.

Both Appliance supply stores our contractor send us too specifically told us to bring one of our plates to test in the various models. We ended up selecting a Whirlpool. We'll see how it works out. Right now, I'm the dishwasher since the old kitchen has been demoed and the new cabinets are just now going in.

We renovated our kitchen and love our Bosch dishwasher. My mother also got one a few years ago and loves it as well. I can put anything in there- cheesy plates or bowls with dried on oatmeal- and they come out completely clean.

I will respond to the complaints another poster mentioned. The prongs in one small section are close together (it's intended for saucers or small plates). The rest are spaced far enough for any heavier/thicker stoneware type plates and bowls with no problem.

My one issue is that they allowed too much room for the top rack. While it's nice because you can also fit plates or small pots up there, certain items are too tall to fit on the lower rack. My big cookie sheets could stand up in the bottom rack, but there is not enough space for the washing arm to spin without getting stuck. I purchased smaller cookie sheets and if I need to use the big ones for something I wash them by hand. It is tall enough to accommodate all my pots and pans. I just have to be sure the handles clear the spinning arm.

One of my co-workers has a Bosch she loves, and when we moved into our house and needed a new one, I looked at them and tried to like them based on her recommendation. But the racks just looked small and I wasn't convinced I'd be able to fit as much into it as I'd like. I bought a Kenmore Elite and like how it loads, how it washes and it's very quiet. It hasn't been 100% trouble-free (something started to leak last summer and I had to have it repaired) but all in all, I really like it.

LOVE my Bosch! It gets dishes CLEAN without prewashing, even if I overlap them a little more than I should. It's SO quiet, i have to put my ear down next to it to make sure the water is running in - (it always is). The only potential downside I can see is, the plate arrangments are a little odd - maybe sized for typical euro style dishes. That being said, I will NEVER have anything else.

I have had the worst luck with Bosch. Both dishwasher and washer/dryer set. The dishwasher had so many issues that I got rid of it after a year. My miele is still going strong five years later. As for the washer & dryer, well they work at the moment. Not the best and have also had issues.

We bought a Bosch last year and I'm in love with it. Maybe because I was hand washing dishes before that

It's quiet, and does a phenomenal job, especially since my other half refuses to rinse before he throws his cups or whatever in the dishwasher.

We were able to buy the floor model at Best Buy, talk them down a bit more on the price and use ShopKick to get points towards a target/disney gift card. It was a win-win for us!
