Opinion Needed Re: Family of 6

We have been to Disney 8 times and enjoyed a bunch of resorts.
We even stayed at Poly 2x and found the room to be fine for the 5 of us (we tend to not be there much). Now we have a 6th and she'll be just over 2 when we take her on her first trip to Disney.
My husband likes Fort Wilderness Cabins and I'm leaning toward AoA.

Concerns for FWC- Pool? Where is it exactly compared to cabins (does it have slide). Also I've heard getting to transportation is long? We will have stroller, but I don't want to be tired before we even get started.

AoA - Bus wait? some of the threads say 20 min? I can see you need to request certain areas to be near them.

we are planning late August trip...I have about a month to decide before booking. Any feedback appreciated.

Don't the cabins only have 1 bathroom?

If buses are a concern you should go with AoA, since the Ft Wilderness campground/cabins area is pretty spread out.

Plus like smiths said, you get an additional bathroom.

Friends are at AoA right now and they said it's great. They are in a family suite.

thanks...the more I thought about it last night the more I was leaning towards AoA.
I was just reading some other posts....two rooms in a moderate would work, but Disney does not Gaurantee connecting for anyone....are there any exceptions to that rule?
I'm going to call today and book.

We have six and we're doing AoA in May, but two of our six are grandmothers.

We also looked at the cabins, but decided on AoA because of

1) the extra bathroom

2) less awkward sleeping spaces (1 bedroom, 2 separate living room sleeping spaces as opposed to 1 bedroom for 4 people and 1 living area sleeping space)

3) I thought the theming would be more enjoyable for my kids, while they're so young.

Unfortunately, no. However, it is rare that you won't be able to get connecting rooms. But it is definitely NOT guaranteed. Even if a CM tells you it is, it is not.

We have four kids and have done it all. We just did AoA in December and the suite was great. DH and I LOVE having a private master bedroom and our own bathroom. The mini-kitchen is great too!
Cons of AoA, it is very spread out and you will walk a lot.

Fort Wilderness is nice, the cabins are quiet, and they did build a new pool with a slide. But having one bathroom and NO private master was not good, we will not do that again.

With two connecting rooms (we have always gotten them when we requested them) you don't have a living area to sit in. It is all beds. Plus, we always had kids in the other bed of our room so no privacy.

Our favorite is really a 2 bedroom DVC unit. LOVE the space and the deluxe surroundings. Pricey though.

It's not "officially" guaranteed but if you have young kids you WILL get connecting rooms. It appears to be a CYA move by them.

You could try to rent DVC points to get a 2 bedroom that would be plenty of room for you plus a full kitchen will save money on meals. If you got the 2 br at Animal Kingdom you would also have 2 bathrooms. Dave's rentals is a reputable company for rentals.

If you like the Poly, you will still be able to do it for this trip because your youngest one will be under 3 and will not count towards your room occupancy total of 5. You are allowed 5 people plus 1 under three in a crib.

Our family of six stayed in the cabins and enjoyed them, but it does add extra time and sometimes frustration to your day having to take the internal bus to get to the bus stops to the parks.

We started doing two connecting rooms at a moderate and really enjoyed the second bathroom. Didn't miss the kitchen in the cabins at all! I really don't even want to look at a kitchen when I'm on vacation

I've seen pics of the family suites and they look nice, but my kids wanted a slide at the pool and we wanted a hot tub which the values do not have.

We always got the requested connecting rooms.
