We are going to Disney for our first time as a family. We have two sons, a five year old and three year old.

Arrival Day - Ohana
First Full Day - Sci-Fi Diner for lunch and 50s Prime Time Diner for dinner
Second Day - Tusker House for breakfast and 1900 Park Fare for dinner
Third Day - Chef Mickey's for breakfast and Coral Reef for dinner
Fourth Day - Crystal Palace for breakfast and Teppan Edo for dinner
Last Day - Boma for breakfast

I would switch Boma to the first night and Ohana for Breakfast if possible. Ohana has Lilo and stich for breakfast and Boma is much better for dinner:thumbsup2

Teppan Edo would be questionable for me. Lots of really good places at Epcot besides this. Biergarten, San Angel, Rose and Crown, Le Cellier, Via Napoli and Nine Dragons suits my tastebuds:thumbsup2

I like the restaurant choices, but I can't imagine doing breakfasts 4 days in a row. If they're early enough to not miss rope drop (before 8am) that's a lot of early days. My kids were early risers at those ages but factoring in travel time to get there would have made that tough. Or if they're later (after 8am) you'll be missing prime time to hit the rides without lines. Just something to consider!

I LOVE O'Hana (breakfast 4x) LOVE Sci Fi (once in May 2012) 50's Prime Time (once May 2010) and LOVE LOVE Teppan Edo (probably 12 times in the last 20 years !). I have not "done" any of the others.

My only concern is this: Proximity and which parks you will be doing each day. I wouldn't want for you to spend your vacation traveling to and from parks and resorts:

Arrival Day: 'Ohana = MK resort so hopefully you're doing MK that day.
First Day: Both at DHS - great choices as long as you're doing DHS that day.
Second Day: Tusker is AK and 1900 is MK resort... so that involves travel time taking you away from park time
Third Day: CM is MK Resort and CR is Epcot.... I would switch things around to keep you from traveling so much on this day.
Fourth day CP is MK and Teppan is Epcot... can you move around day 3 and 4 to keep you near MK ONE Day and near Epcot the other day ?

Just IMHO... some folks don't realize how much travel can eat into your enjoyment of the parks :thumbsup2

Have a MAGICAL visit !

Mary

would not try to get to two different parks/park areas in the same day with young kids. WAY too much travel time.

Visit MK one day...and do your MK resort restaurants & MK park restaurants that day.

Visit Epcot another day, and do your Epcot restaurants that day...schedule an early lunch (like 11:30) and then a later dinner, like 6:30

Many people greatly under-estimate how long it takes to get from here-to-there. Like you don't just pop into Magic Kingdom to go to Crystal Palace. You don't say where you're coming from, but even if you're staying at a Magic Kingdom resort it can take you 30 minutes-or more- to get to Crystal Palace. If you're at a MK resort, you have to walk from your room to the area of the resort where the transportation is: depending on where your room is, you could have a5-10 minute walk to the transportation. Then you have to wait to catch a boat or the monorail... maybe there will be one waiting, but probably not. Then you get off & it's quite a hike to the bag check...then a walk to the ticket turnstyles, and then a long walk through a crowded Main Street. If you're driving, it will take longer because you have to get to the parking lot, then hike to the monorail or ferry. If you're taking a bus from another resort, it could be as little as 30 minutes total...or as long as 60 minutes if you just miss a bus. Disney dining always says allow an hour to get from one location to another park or hotel within Disney World: our experience is that estimate is not far off.

If you are not driving your own car while there...or are not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge...I would skip Boma breakfast, and just book a breakfast at the resort you're staying at. It is very time-consuming to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a breakfast...Disney transportation does not go from one hotel to another. You would have to take a bus to one of the parks or the Transportation and Ticket Center...then go wait for the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus. This is easily 60-75 minutes.

I agree about timing your eating with where you will be that day....anything else is very tiring.....
Also agree about all the breakfasts...my fam. doesn't do breakfast out b/c everyone is cranky......also be aware that all the ts meals take a lot of time, and you may want to do only one sit down per day,at the most, esp. w/young kids:thumbsup2
also agree about Boma at dinner and Ohana at breakfast..... I love both those options!

Where are you staying? I think these work well if you are staying at a monorail resort... or had a car there.

We've done all of your character meals and I think your boys will love them. I like doing the CM to sort of get the autographs/pictures out of the way a bit so I don't spend all day in line for them.

We are trying Teppan Edo.. I have heard great things about it. My BF is a disneyaholic, and she's added it to her list of must-dos.

have a great trip!

Agree about the staying where you are to eat. Transportation is a HUGE time suck ;) Especially with kids and kid gear :)

My only comment is that 2 table service meals per day take a LOT of park time away. Depending on when you're going, you may spend more time dealing with dining than seeing the parks. Changing one of them to a quick service would add quite a bit of touring time for you.

We go in October. And in Oct, many of the parks close much earlier than they do in the summer. So by the time we're done eating at out 5:00 ADR, the park could be ready to close. Additionally, we avoid the EMH days to avoid the crowds.

My suggestion would be to make your breakfast ADRs at 8:00am before the parks open. You can even do this at the park restaurants. At least you won't be taking away any park time in the morning, which I think is the best time to avoid long lines. And don't park hop for meals.

Are you on the dining plan? If it's deluxe, you could also switch out two table service meals for one deluxe meal that takes 2 TS credits.

I'm guessing with kids that young, the OP may be planning mid-day breaks at the resort, which means traveling to a different park for dinner does not take any extra time than going back to the same park they visited in the morning. We did this a lot when our kids were younger- MK in morning then EP after a mid-day break.

Ohanas dinner was AWESOME! Our favorite restaurant so far. LOVE it! Havne't tried breakfast or lunch there.

Sci-Fi for lunch was ok. Burger and fries, not bad. The idea of the car was neat and we can say we ate there.

Prime Time -- I thought my chicken was so oily. We weren't thrilled with the food. Again, not our favorite. I definitely wouldn't eat there the same day as Sci-Fi....

1900 Park Fare for dinner -- trying it in August. Will let you know but I've heard to accept funny characters and bad food :)

Tusker House for breakfast -- my favorite breakfast in WDW so far! Love it! I also like the characters better here than Chef mickeys!

chef Mickeys -- we didn't eat breakfast here. We had dinner and were not thrilled. The characters spent less than 10 seconds with my kids. I guess we had such a great time at Tusker House that I just thought it would be more like that!

Coral Reef -- trying dinner this trip in August!

Crystal Palace -- we enjoyed our breakfast here!

Teppan Edo -- never tried it

Boma -- we had dinner and LOVED it!

This. :thumbsup2
I took my girls when they were 3 and 6 for our first visit. I only scheduled 1 TS meal per day at the park or resort we were at/closest to and that was a lot. Disney is HUGE and traveling with two little ones it will take you quite a while to get where you need to go. From your current reservations, you won't be spending very much time in the parks doing things. Unless you don't really care to spend much time in the parks riding and such.

What about naps? My kids never slept in strollers, so we needed to account for afternoon naps/downtime for the little one. I have friends whose kids always sleep in strollers/cars and would not sleep in a stroller at Disney.

I too wanted to go to every TS dining place I could on my first trip but after reading the boards, I decided to do one daily and I'm glad I did. I just picked the few I knew the girls and DH and I would really like and decided to save the rest for next trip. Good luck in whatever you do. It will be a wonderful vacation no matter what. :)

Yep, that's what we do as well and it works really well with young kids. To the OP, sounds like a good plan. Lots of my favorites on there. Definitely keep O'Hana for dinner.

We LOVE Teppan Edo so I would definitely keep that! 1900 PF had very acceptable food for a buffet and the characters, especially Cinderella's step sisters, were hilarious. Have a magical trip :)

Thank you everyone for your input! :cool1: I have made a couple of changes thanks to your feedback!

Second Day - Removed 1900 Park Fare
Third Day - Switched Teppan Edo to this day and removed Coral Reef

Feel like these changes give us a little more freedom each day...Thanks everyone
