So my friend and I went to Universal from about 11 to 4. Just killing time, going to see people and such, and we hit both parks. Now, I know how Universal operates. The later the park hours, the more crowded they are expecting the park to be, the more Team Members at attractions to help push ride capacity. USF closed at 6 and IOA at 7 tonight.

Here are some things I noticed that definitely caught my attention.

1). Hulk was at a walk on, with 3 trains, 6 loaders, 1 greeter, one test seat person, and a redemption (Express pass scanner). (Note: 6 loaders are used when it is crazy busy like 9 -10 pm closings)

2). Mummy was a walk on as well, using both stations.

3). Dragon's Challenge had groupers! I have NEVER seen that ride ever have a Grouper attendant, even when it was Dueling Dragons.

4). Doom had both towers running, and 2 attendants on each of the towers, so it had 4 loaders.

I don't know, but I was impressed with how many Team Members they were willing to keep at the attractions. I remember this time last year, it would be cutting staff left and right, because it wasn't deemed too busy, so to save on money, they would cut staff. Today wasn't even that busy though! Hulk, Doom, and Dragon's Challenge were 5 minute waits, Forbidden Journey was 75 though. Other attractions were 10 to 20 minutes. Maybe the money is more flowing now, now that Potter has opened, or they're testing to see what kind of budget they need for the Holiday Hell Week this year.

BTW, I saw Forbidden Journey's Express line today. It was pretty cool. It brings you up some stairs through your own portrait gallery (which in my opinion is better than the regular line one, because it's bigger) and it joins next to the regular line in Dumbledore's office. The problem with it is that it is SHORT. There is no way to extend that line, which is going to be a problem when Express finally opens because that's just going to to DOUBLE the regular line wait time, which means more people will buy Express, which means more Express guests in that line.

I agree, I prefer that portrait room than the one in the regular stand-by line. :wizard:

What's a "grouper" attendant?

The person at the end of the line at the coasters, to tell you which row to go in.

"How many in your party? Take row 3." That person.

Ahh, I had no idea that they were planning on opening the Express Line for Forbidden Journey. Do you know when it will be open?

The "Express" line you saw is currently called the Castle Tour line. There is no word on when or IF it will become an Express line. See HRRR over at the Studios.

Thanks for the report! I've been impressed with the way Universal's handled the crowds thus far, especially since the crowding since HP opened has been unprecedented to say the least.

But it's good to see they've got plenty of TMs working, as much as I love picking my own row.

Will be going next Sat, Sun, & Mon and wondered if you noticed is RRR was running? How about Twister? Any info appreciated. Can't wait to see WWOHP.

This (bold text). UO's attendance and revenue have skyrocketed thanks to HP. And "Holiday Hell Week" will be interesting. USF: 9a-10p. IOA: 8a-Midnight. :scared1:

Both Rock-It and Twister are open.

Sorry if I missed it, but when is the "Hell Week" you speak of? We are going 12/17-12/22 and I just want to make sure I take some extra vitamins if it happens to be during that time.:rotfl:

Are they going to start staffing MIB to where there isn't a 40 minute line during dead times because there are only two people working the ride?

When did you go? I've never seen a long wait for MIB during non-peak times.

Last February. Of course, it wasn't posted as a 40 minute wait, but you should have seen this line. One side running. It was ridiculous. I had express though, but still felt annoyed for the people who had this long line created for them by the staffing.

Just wondering how busy you guys think US/IOA will be during our time there. We'll be in Orlando 11/20-11/27. We are thinking of doing 4 days in the parks. Also I see that we can order the express pass (we're not staying on-site so FOTL pass will not be available to us). Should we buy these? I appreciate any advice anyone can give! Thanks!

The 26th and 27th will be extremely busy. The other days will probably not be very busy. You will need express on the 26th and 27th.

That was 9 months ago. Now that Harry Potter is open, things are improving dramatically.
