Operation Big Thunder: the Dole Whip Conspiracy COMPLETE

Spent a lot of time building that up, didn't I? :scratchin

Yah you did didn’t ya’.
But I don’t really see (or have time to sus out) a better candidate right now.
As such, I’ll officially follow that bandwagon on down the wrong goat path and say that y’all did get on the Avenger-a-Rail.

A response post that showed up during lunch…
I got lucky. But now it’s back to the grind.

You're right. We're not giving him a seat. There were only two out there. Those yutes just need to stand. Or lay down. Whatever. The chairs are ours.

Thanks for backing me up on this one.

Guess what?

Zebra butt!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I love you.

No. It's Disney World. A close second. <watches for lightning strike>

Works for me.

OH! And I didn't quote it BUT the pineapple bread was AWESOME!!!!! AND I got the recipe from the disboards here. I haven't tried making it yet, but it's SO good!!!

Why haven't we tried this yet exactly? :confused3

Yutes: My Cousin Vinny

Jill in CO

Oh, all right.

+1:thumbsup2

I have 2 beefs with AKV. One being 2 chairs. Hello...room sleeps 5 in a 1 B....why only one TINY side table and 2 chairs on a balcony that could easily fit twice that much? Me no likey.

Maybe they figured all the other parents are jerks, too? :confused3

Lie. Dave could not possibly have been comfortable. It is possible though that he lied to you and you guys bought it.

I wouldn't, I mean didn't, give up those chairs either.

He didn't really say whether he was comfortable, but he also didn't move for a while. Maybe he was just exhausted.

Lie. You had unheard of AKV bus karma, saw an MK bus as you walked up, someone ran and you were all able to get on. Leaving plenty of time for loops, waiting for specific themed monorails and photo shoots.

We are the anti karma folks at AKV...it has been unbelievably bad there more than anywhere else so I figure everyone else must catch the bus they want right away.

Don't you hate that? It's just Murphy's Law, I guess.

Out of all the guesses about lies in this TR, I never dreamed someone would think I was actually lying about having to wait a while for a bus to show up! :rotfl2::rotfl:

The guys, as usual, got all the quotes I spotted (though in my defense I was at DISNEY WORLD) but I have to say... I didn't know about Peeky Tiki! :lmao:

It's a Hawaiian Mr. Potato Head with a loin cloth!

Technically I guess that'd make him a Taro Root Head.

:lmao::lmao:

These guys are in the Boo-tiki shop just off the main lobby. I think I saw them first in Pat's (Poolrat) TR.

I really hate it when that happens

It happens more than I care to admit.

You did. Shop that is. Apparently she knows now!

It was kind of hard to hide it on this trip. Especially on our departure day.

Have you ever noticed how Marv seems to show up just when certain people are posting for the contests? Am I the ONLY one who sees this?

Now that you mention it, he did seemingly pop out of nowhere...

Great update, Mark. You guys clean up real good.

The trick is to surround yourself with better-looking people. Works like a charm for me!:thumbsup2

We've fallen in love with Kona for breakfast and it is now a must do; now you are telling me I need to try it for dinner?

::yes::

Although it doesn't sound like my 50's PT Cafe recommendation worked out for you, so maybe you just shouldn't listen to me.

Your pictures of the AKL are great. It truly is a stunning resort.

What an amazing place to stay! It was deserving of its spot on our bucket list, I think.

Catching up but I could not resist some of these comments so just humor me.

That's fine, I'll wait.

Oh I had some fun but... I can't post any of the pictures.

:scared1: Yes, please don't get me banned from the boards!

I can justify having my waterproof camera. It does come in handy for waterparks, rainy or just maybe it might get wet shots. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 You can also use it if you're hastily swimming through the shark reef and wondering where you daughter is.

Maybe you will eventually seek out some dry coasters too!!!!

I love coasters. It's the freefalling elevator I hate.

Okay that had me seriously laughing out loud for way too long. Just gave me the giggles.

Here I go again - just laughing and can't stop.

"

Yup if I had been caught up that would have been mine. However walking back down the tower with lightning in the area is only slightly less dangerous than riding down. Glad you got stopped onthe way up. Steps get slippery on the way down.

Always out there protecting us from ourselves. In the words of Socrates, "I drank what?"

Crush N gusher was a blast. Now with the premium Ap I have WP passes so may need to make that happen more.

You could spend all day on the Crush 'n Gusher and still get your money's worth.

Glad your dinner at Kona was good. I have had that steak.

Mmmm...pineapple steak.

drooling_homer-712749_gif.png.jpg

I also think you DID ride the avenger monorail, having learned your lesson from the tron-o-rail.

612-admiral-ackbar-he-knows-when-something-is-a-trap.jpg

Why else did you pay for that room? :confused3

Something about having live exotic animals outside of your balcony that just makes it magical.

Kids can make themselves comfortable anywhere. Good call.

You just have to be careful that they don't lock you out on the deck as payback though.

They wouldn't do that...would they?

What kind of a father are you???

Well, I did abandon my daughter in a shark tank.

I've got to try it sometime. I just can't get my family interested in the menus for either Poly restaurant. And you think you're not an adventurous eater...

Your family isn't interested in unlimited meat? Or meat with pineapple on it? Are you sure they're from...you know, earth? :confused3

She's very creative.:rotfl:

Good thing it wasn't raining any harder.

I see a few potential lies in this update, but I think I'll pick this one out. I think you'll post a second version of this picture (most likely taken by Julie) that looks like it was taken by a professional.:rolleyes1

I see you're not falling for the Avengers monorail bait. It couldn't be that easy, could it? :scratchin

Well, the kid has great bat speed... :rolleyes1

What do we need a scoreboard for? We haven't scored any runs all season.

Great shots.

:thanks:

:sad2: Already???

Don't you hate that feeling?

What do we need a scoreboard for? We haven't scored any runs all season.

Bull Durham

I finally got out of those blasted turn-over meetings long enough to catch a few points.

Some times you win.
:cool1:

Just for good measure... I'll call these out as quote references too
(you dont have to give points to me for them, but I didnt want to leave any obvious references unspoken for).

A "Simpsons" reference

and... a sarcastic "Star Wars V" reference

And I know its probable a trap, but youve also talked me out of simple answers before.

Well it took a bit, but I finally got read up to the end.

Enjoying the mess out of it so far.

I discovered one exception to your culinary observation. Picture it. July 4, 2009. The family is gathered to eat at my wife's aunt's house and trying to appear pleased about it. If you had ever eaten at my wife's aunt's house, you would appreciate the wherewithal such a ruse requires. Shortly into the dinner service, I bit down into some coleslaw and was disturbed to encounter a rather large chunk of pineapple. To this day, I don't know what possessed the woman to put it in there. But may I just say the unexpected texture combined with the clash of flavors caused an unintentional and undeniable reaction.

On the plus side it was the last time we were invited to dinner.

“Real Genius”

I thought I was the only person that committed that film to memory

I must have watched that movie over 300 times, as I worked at the video rental counter of a supermarket throughout college and we were allowed to put on only PG movies, with no bad language, and that was the only movie in our inventory I could stand to watch/listen to more than 5 times... I'm probably one of the few who actually know who Gabe Jarrett is.

I've decided that the lie in this chapter is that you did, in fact, ride the express monorail to the TTC so that you would be able to fulfill Dave's wish to ride the Avenger-ail.

You already had one stressful dad moment that day, I don't think you'd let this one pass.

admiral-ackbar-trap-231x300.jpg

I just had to let you know that I am really enjoying your trip report. I'm glad that you have done others, so that I can go back and read those while you're still working on this one. I also really enjoy the movie quotes scattered throughout. :thumbsup2 My husband and I took a short trip a month ago without our kids and I'm still debating on doing a TR. You've givien me some inspiration.

:welcome: I'm glad you're here! Grab a seat, make yourself comfortable.

The way you surprised your kids is so great! They're adorable!

Thanks! I still can't believe we actually pulled it off. It's a story we'll be telling for years, I'm sure. "I once caught a fish THIS big..."

Isn't it interesting how a park like Epcot can make you hurt all over from walking mile after mile, but you can't help adoring it anyway?

Especially if you don't really plan your day very well and end up crossing it 3 or 4 times. :headache:

Also, please don't feel bad about the Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon. I had the EXACT same reaction when I did it for the first time many years ago. I was 16 years-old. The water was so cold which takes your breath away anyway. And I had never used a snorkel. It was all very overwhelming. :crazy2: My sister took off while I was getting instruction and when she got to the other side, I was already there. She still makes fun of me for how fast I swam through. However, now my husband and I want to take our kids, but I haven't been there in years. It's interesting to know that it is still the same, so we will have to prep them beforehand.

I look forward to reading more! :goodvibes

If you have a chance to practice in a pool or something with a snorkel beforehand, it might be a good idea. If you haven't done it in a while (like me), you might end up gagging on water.

Ever get that feeling of deja vu? :confused3

Oops... I mean... Uh... Well, I'm still trying to get past that whole leaving your kid in a pool full of live sharks thing. <JK> :flower3:

Har-de-har-har-har. That's about as funny as a screen door on a battleship.

I was trying to remember the theme song from Planes Trains and Automobiles but that Small World song kept creeping in... :headache:

Serves you right. So there.

(In my Bill Cosby voice) Riiight

Dad is great! Gives us chocolate cake!

Good plan! It was the execution that was flawed.

Story of my life.

It's just like being at Aulani! Or so I've heard. Maybe not.

I think this theory deserves further testing. Any volunteers? :wave2:

Just found something I'm going to have to look for next time we visit the Poly. I've never seen this. Where is it?

In the Boo-tiki shop. There's a window behind a cash register along the wall facing the monorail tracks.

Seems that the restaurants are taking a cue from the parks in the same way that they have the ride exits empty into a store.

It's hard to beat a chocolate Lilo & Stitch, though.

::yes:: I will agree! Let's add Pineapple to the list!

Done! Unless you have a plate of cole slaw.

No, It's Disney. But I can see how you could be confused. :goodvibes

Close enough.

Missed it by that much!

Now you're stealing my lines!

Smart kid. That should keep her fingers dry :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Isn't she cute?

Given your previous photo fail (and that I think I've seen these photos somewhere else), I'm gonna say that this is the lie. You didn't take those last few pictures. But if you did, you have redeemed yourself. :thumbsup2

Well, at least you're making a unique guess. Even if it is at the expense of my photographic abilities.

Maybe I'm a sucker for detail, but what did Sarah, Dave and Scott have as their entrees at the Kona Cafe? Surely something more adventurous than chicken fingers?

I dunno. I thought all the kids' menus were pretty much the same thing across WDW.

I'm pretty sure Scotty got the cheeseburger, and I think Sarah ordered the Mickey ravioli. And I honestly can't remember what Dave got. Maybe the chicken fingers, since it's Dave.

Don't even try to make me change my mind with Admiral Ackbar, dang it! I can see right through that trickeration.

:rotfl:

Maybe if he stood on his head he'd get a better view.

He only does that when he's falling asleep.

The Beer Barrel Polka is usually running on a constant loop in the back of my mind anyway. The Polka is the official state dance of Wisconsin, you know.

I did not know that. But it explains a lot.

Stupid replacement refs.

It may have been a good thing. Aaron Rodgers has been inspired to play in Eff You mode since then.

Not as exciting as Russian Roulette, but with a better risk/reward outcome.

If I had a dollar for every time I sat at a Disney bus stop and saw two buses for the exact same destination pull up at the same time...

Saddest walk ever. Going right past the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

It's worse if you know you're not going through those gates. If you still have time to get there, it's not so bad.

Clearly, "the boys" means "Mark and his sons"

:rolleyes1 Have you seen the Avengers yet? It was pretty awesome.

And in the case of nuclear war, they work just as good as crawling under your wooden school desk.

We live near a nuclear power plant, and occasionally they pass out iodine pills to be taken in case of a meltdown. Apparently it helps prevent radiation from being absorbed by the thyroid gland or something. If a meltdown does occur, I'm expecting the clean-up team to find lots of perfectly-preserved thyroid glands among the ashes.

If I take off my glasses, it gets all fuzzy. But that fuzzy counter acts the fuzzy of the picture and brings it into focus. Nice Job Mark!:thumbsup2

:woohoo: :thumbsup2

I still say you were pointing at the hotdog stand instead of calling your shot.

It all looks the same in the box score, though.

It's quite fun to wear it with the matching purse. And my mother has the matching shorts and tank. And my dad has the matching polo.

Oh no :scared1: We are one of THOSE families.

Oh well :upsidedow

What's wrong with being one of THOSE families? You're among friends here. :thumbsup2

a Lion King Refference

a Star Wars IV refference

a Phineas and Ferb refference

more specifically a song from the movie "Across the 2nd Dimension"

+3:thumbsup2 Rob is not going down without a fight. Glad the meetings eased up a bit.

Yeah, but this Admiral Ackbar thing is fun. I'll pass on points for the photos, and stick to the quotes. You're doing rather well for yourself in this round, anyway.

(Although Ackbar is actually from Return of the Jedi)

Well it took a bit, but I finally got read up to the end.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Well, there are a couple of exceptions to the Pantheon rules. First, the foods in the Pantheon won't improve EVERYTHING. But, generally speaking, if a food can't be improved with bacon and cheese, then it can be improved with chocolate. And so on and so forth. And then some foods are just so nasty they shouldn't be consumed in the first place. Like cole slaw. :crazy2: :rotfl:
