Opening Day Reservation and OBB discount?

We have always done February cruises. Because of the release dates of Feb cruises in October (~18 momths out)...we can never seem to match up having a place holder and securing opening day reservations and low prices in which to apply that placeholder.

If I make a reservation tomorrow for a February 2018 cruise - am I able to then retroactively apply my OBB discount that I will make once I am on my February 2017 cruise? Meaning - can they access my existing reservation and apply the credit to that? Pretty sure the answer is no but trying to see how to get OBB discount and opening day price discount!

An OBB must be a "new" reservation -- so no, it cannot be applied to an existing reservation. What you can do is book opening day and then re-shop. It's possible the fare has increased enough to negate the OBB benefits, in which case keep the original reservation; if fares haven't increased that much, make the OBB and get the lower fare.

Enjoy your vacation!

Ah - ok that makes sense. So compare and book a new reservation - same cruise, but different cabin or something. And can they cancel the original or does the travel agent have to?

If you used a TA, you can name that TA to the OBB but the TA will need to deal with canceling the old reservation. The TA also should be able to shift the new (OBB) reservation to the same stateroom previously booked, assuming same category on the OBB.

Enjoy your cruise!

Don't forget to take the onboard credit (part of the onboard booking benefits) into account as well when comparing the prices.
