Opening day prices

Is there a thread that lists opening day prices anywhere? I'm usually on here from my phone, and have been having a hard time finding things today that I am looking for. We are just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

I'm pretty sure the prices change form year to year. So when trips are announced, there will be several "slots" available at the introductory price, and then when those are booked the price will go up incrementally until the trip is full. An old thread might not have current info.
For this reason I used my "frequent flyer" status with ABD (called insider I think!) to book the day before the public. I needed 6 "slots" and wanted to make sure we all got the early pricing! On our most recent trip prices went up by $100 almost within days and about $500 higher was what i saw at the end closer to departure. I think it varies depending in the season ( peak, holiday shoulder?) and the destination ( some are hotter than others)

Our faithful mods can probably explain better, but this is how it's worked for us!

Thanks for that. I kind of figured they changed from one year to the next, just was wanting to see trends, or at least this years pricing. The DCL DIS page has it, so thought maybe it would be buried here.

For anyone with some insight, I am interested to see opening day prices for Germany (dates that coincide with Oktoberfest), and for Alpine Magic (I'm pretty flexible with dates on this itinerary).

Thank you!!

Historically, there hasn't been one. I can set up Sticky if folks want that.

To find old prices, you'd probably have to search & dig through threads discussing the new trips for each year. It's going to be really buried, if it's there at all. As best I remember, folks here don't seem to discuss price much. (Except to answer "is is worth the price or not.) :)

I would be interested in a sticky with that info.

I'd have to agree with Say Hello- I have rarely seen anyone discuss absolute prices in a thread. I was part of the waiting and watching for ABD trip itineraries and prices in Aug 11 when they were super late (now they try to get them out in May- that summer people were not even sure if they could book a trip less than a year away!) there was a lot of price discussion that year!

The older threads might have discussed- what kinds of discounts/credits you could get from TAs, -the general idea that the prices are lower if you book early- if specials might be offered ( free cruise, kids free- these are only offered late, usually only if something isnt selling well.)
- and of course the " is it worth it issues" ( for which there is now a sticky!)

So I'm not sure you will find what you are looking for. What I did was look at last years trips to get an idea about the differences between times of year for the trips still offered this year. It's clear Xmas is always more, peak summer vacation weeks are higher than early June or late Aug before school starts. The shoulder seasons when the kids are out are sometimes cheaper since there are fewer folks to book. These are just general trends.

I think part of the reason there isn't the focus on pricing here that there is on the DCL board is that there isn't *that* much variation in price for a particular trip. Adult price, child price, single supplement. That's it. If you look at cruises, even on opening day, when the cruise is, what category you book, how many people, which ship, all can cause variations on the price. With ABD, for the most part, the opening price is the opening price. It may go up quickly for a popular departure, but the variations are so much more limited.

Also, once the new itineraries are announced for ABD, it's all there on the website, all in one place for each trip, really easy to see & figure out. Unlike the DCL website, where you have to go through several steps to find the price, and where one little variable could change that price. It's just not the same kind of situation.

So I don't think the whole frenzy about pricing occurs like it does for DCL. The only real interest in exact pricing I've seen is for the cruise add-ons, since the pricing for those aren't on the ABD or DCL website. You really have to call DCL to get that pricing.

I will just keep my eyes open in May then. Hope we can reach a decision before then for next year.

I tried the first link Kevin posted, but I got the same rates that are displayed on ABDs site for the ones I tried.

ABD hasnt released 2014 dates or rates yet.

We expect them some time in May.

The dates our our site (as well as the ABD site) are for the remainder of 2013 and those dates that were scheduled for early 2014.

These are the rates and dates for the trips released last May (2012).

Yes, I am aware of that. The way your response was worded, and with the question I asked, seemed like you were leading me to a page that had the opening rates that were posted last May. I am aware next years info will be released, hopefully, in May.

That was what I thought, too. When I hit the link, I was a little confused (expecting to see opening day rates for last year).

I apologize for the confusion.

I was suggesting that the page is where you will find new pricing, once released.
