Okay, people I don't have one yet that's why I want yours to analyze different viewpoints & decide. If you're at DLR are you going to DCA or totally avoiding it are you going early early in the morning and getting in line? If you don't wanna share it's fine just trying to get some perspective other than my own.

If you want to avoid crowds go to DL.

If you want to be part of the opening day go to DCA and expect huge waits in line.

What I wrote in another thread is because people will start lining up at night, if you want the short wait for Radiator Springs Racers get in the lineup at 4am, and 6 hours later around 10am you should be on the ride. It's just an educated guess based on what I know about how RSR will operate and what has happened with other major attraction openings.

RSR will have FP if it's in use expect all the FPs on opening day to be gone in 30-45 minutes and be taken by people who were in line by 12am at night.

Another option for RSR is to wait until night and just before the park closes get in line, this could could mean only a 2 hour wait assuming you can stay up that late.

Luigi's Flying Tires will probably have a 2-4 hours line. Mater's Junkyard Jamboree 1-3 hours. Compared to RSR, that may sounds good, but they aren't as nice an attraction as RSR.

I think those time estimates should be doubled or tripled. I also think that even getting to the DLR will take hours if you do not go the night before.

The best bet is to avoid DLR for the first weekend after Carsland opens and DCA until July. As for Carsland, I would say wait until school is back in session and crowds will be manageable. Honestly, it is going to be a mess for a while.

Anybody have any idea what the park hours might be during the summer months at DCA?

We are getting there June 25th and I am hoping for 3 showings of WoC nightly along with park hours from 8am-11pm. Does this seem about right? Could they increase it to midnight?

Also, people are not going to be lining up outside the gates that early every morning right? Thats just for opening day? If the park opens at say 8am, is getting to the gates around 7:30 a good idea to be near the front of RSR racers line (and to get a FP) or should you arrive at least an hour early?

I think 8 to 11 and 3 WoCs is realistic.

Midnight I don't know about because having the same close as DL could overwhelm trams back to the Mickey and Friends garage.

We will see the official hours in a few weeks.

Interesting assessment. I'm not sure I agree, but it's all speculation at this point anyway. I don't agree with the statement, "... they aren't as nice an attraction as RSR." I think that's yet to be seen and really difficult to judge at this point. Personally, it is the one I am least interested in. How long will the waits be? The truth is, no one knows. They will be long, all of them, but it's hard to predict where the crowds will go, as there is no historical data to rely upon for information.

We can turn to recent openings of, say, Little Mermaid, Ariel's Undersea Adventure, but that is one attraction. It has been a long time since an entire land has opened.

My plan? If I go, I will just be taking in the sights. I want to see all the details, the overall land.

We're walking to DLR so it shouldn't take hours to get there. I realize it will be mess but my wife is a school teacher so waiting for school to be back in really isn't an option. I would back the trip up a few weeks but I am an IHG (Holiday Inn) employee and my discounted room rates seem to only extend to the week of the Cars Land opening.

Honestly do you guys see a few weeks later like say Mid July being better for Cars land crowds?

Yes, very much.

Cars Land will go from crazy busy to just very busy.

As for park hours, I have heard from numerous sources that DCA will either have the same operating hours as Disneyland or will have longer hours than Disneyland.

The same hours used to overwhelm the trams, but now with the Toy Story lot open, they believe there are enough shuttles and trams to handle it.

So I just looked and July 3rd-10th is available for my hotel discount would you recommend moving the trip? I just assumed since it was later in the summer it would be just as busy.

Personally I would move it. It certainly will not be more busy. I agree with Ski that there is good chance it will be a bit less busy.

Okay, so after me going to bed seeing the employee rate still available for July 3rd-10th I woke up to find it no longer available. I called and called and they kept saying any of the dates I was asking about the employee rate was no longer available. After about 5 hours of kicking myself I got online to see the employee rate was now available for the hotel we were originally staying at for 5 nights in Late June & Early July. It isn't ideal to have to switch hotels mid trip but I think going that week instead of the opening of Cars Land will allow us to get so much more done. Thanks everyone for the advice!
