Opening Date for Soarin Announced

I think they changed the Epcot tiers. When we originally made our FastPass+ plans a couple of weeks ago, it let us make Mission:Space and Illuminations on the same day. I think it had Mission Space in tier 2 but now it's back up in tier 1.

I'll be down in WDW as a CM this summer, so I won't be able to book a FP in advance for this one (assuming they'll be gone). If I wanted to see it opening day with a reasonable wait, how early do you think I'd have to get to the park gates? 2 hours before? Even more?

An hour before will be fine.
You will then be let into Epcot between 25-15 minutes before opening time, and HELD AGAIN inside the park until closer to actual "opening time."

I haven't been at WDW for a new attraction opening, but I'm going to guess you wouldn't have to be there crazy early like that. Soarin is popular and it's a new film, but it's not a whole new attraction and I'd put money on Frozen drawing at least as much if not more of the crowd. Personally, I'd just arrive 45-60 min before rope drop and head straight there when gates open.

If true, that is even worse than I had it figured.

The "new" procedure (which was once the "old" procedure) is that guests are let into Epcot between 25-15 minutes before opening time,
and HELD AGAIN inside the park until closer to actual "opening time."

At that point, guests can be "walked" (accompanied) by CMs heading to each of the most popular attractions.

That seems pretty nutty. . . A Tier 1 has returned and a (presumably) new tier 1 ride AND (presumably) new tier 1 meet and greet are coming and they moved M:S back up to tier 1?? Clearly, what I had been guessing about tiers isn't right. . .

If they keep it that way… it will be a very serious problem for most families and other guests.

I figure that they will HAVE to make some better decisions regarding the Epcot FP tiers.

Mission Space is still in tier 2. I have FP for both Soarin and Mission Space on June 17th.

Once programmed and stored, the "films" and "motion effects" can be changed with a few computer keystrokes.

I'm guessing that the fragrances will be different between the new and original films, so those fragrance source containers would need to be changed by hand.

The smell for flying over Sydney will be beer. :P

I just made fastpasses for Soarin and Mission:Space on the same day.

Got June 16 and 17 old and new!
Wait so you were able to book old Soarin on the 16th and new Soarin on the 17th? I've checked FP+ for my dates 6/4-6/10 and Soarin is not even a choice and Mission Space, Test Track, Living the Land, and Illuminations are all tier one and you can only select one of those :confused3

We'll be there on 6/16. I looked at available FP+ for that day and it is showing Mission Space in tier 1 on that day. Soarin not even an option. When I go to 6/17 Soarin is there and Mission Space is back on tier 2. I planned Epcot FP+'s for 6/21 and already had Mission Space and was able to swap Test Track for Soarin at the same time. I usually do TT and get Soarin as #4 or just stand by at the end of the day....but with it just opening I figured demand would be higher for Soarin.

I was one of the lunatics trying at midnight, 1 am, 2 am...in and out of consciousness until 6 am trying for the FPs and then all day long while in meetings. Of course they released it finally while I was driving home!!! However after modifying and modifying and modifying, I finally got 9:40 am on 6/17 and 6/23!!!! I am now going to take a nap!

I also was up at midnight trying to book my fast passes for Soarin. I was checking every 30 minutes all day today until they finally showed up at around 2:00 cst. When I booked Mission Space was still Tier 2.

However, I am sure there are another good portion of us that are waitig on the announcement for Anna/Elsa and the new Frozen Ride which I would bet would be split into two and be two different Tier 1 Attractons.

I hope you all have fun on June 17 Epcot for the opening. I wil be at a different park that day. :)

I was hoping so, too, but nothing is coming up for our May 26-June 3 trip. In fact, when I try to change my Test Track, it only shows me Tier II choices--it's like Tier I doesn't even exist. I can't change the Test Track time (not that I want to, I want to trade it out for Soarin'--old movie is fine for this trip) and I can't pick any other Tier I choice to replace it.

There is a link above the choices that says "Select another experience", if you click it, the Tier 1 choices will show up again. Of course if you choose one of the Tier 1 choices, it will tell you that you have already chosen one. If you want to change from TT to another, you have to cancel TT and then select the new FP+. If you would want another time, you have to modify the one you have, not choose another time from this menu.

Are you talking about the app or the website? None of that is showing up on the website when I go in to modify. I can neither modify the time of Test Track nor can I change to a different Tier I experience--it only lists the Tier II choices. This is only true when I go in to modify a FP in Epcot. All the other parks (including DHS, which also has tiers) it is working just fine and everything looks as it should. Something is screwy with Epcot for our dates starting yesterday--it wasn't like this prior to the release of the June Soarin' FP yesterday--it was working just fine then.

It must be something with the park and date combo. On the website it works fine for me, but I was looking at June. Hopefully they will get it fixed.
