opening ceremonies

Actual "ceremonies" at two.

MK has a big one that takes place up on the train platform.
Lots of characters, singing and dancing.

Animal Kingdom has a cute one with Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and the "Head Explorer" himself.

MGM has a recorded annnouncement.

Epcot has, well, nothing.

At all parks there may or may not be a very small "open the gates" event (just inside the ticket readers) where a child or family does a "countdown" and/or throws some "fairy dust" or the like, but the "Real-Deal" Ceremonies are the two I listed.

Normally, yes.
But I don't think they do them on Morning EMH days (because the "rope" has already "dropped".)

They happen at the first park opening each morning. Did Epcot stop the little pixie dust with the characters when they stopped the bus, they had a little ceremony when I was there first thing in the morning last fall.

Of course MGM does have the great stormtrooper dialouge for the Star Wars weekends.

When we were at Epcot in March, there was a small mini-opening inside the park. There was a rope drop just before you head toward the Soarin' pavillion on your right and Test Track on the left. They had a "family of the day" ride up in a test track car and count down, with Mickey, Minnie and a couple of other characters.
