Opening ceremonies at Epcot

I remember a few years ago at 11:00 AM when World Showcase would open, the characters would come off those Double Decker Buses. I also remember they did that when Future World would open at 9:00 AM for the opening at Epcot, but it not at World Showcase on the same day. I was wondering does Epcot still do this, or is it something brand new they do?

They don't do the bus anymore. Not sure if they do anything else at FW opening becasue I've never made it to opening

When I was there in August, the opening at FW was a bunch of CMs and a few characters. The family of the day drove in in a Test Track vehicle and basically 'lead' the way to the ride. Not sure if they are still doing that or not.

This is exactly what i saw in October, and the characters came over to the ropes to say hello.
