opening at MK

Hi guys, my family is going to Disney for the week of Thanksgiving. We have never experienced the opening of MK. How do I know what time to get there? How far ahead of park opening do you arrive?

You're gonna want to get there early! Check the official opening times for that week as close to arrival as you can and plan on being at MK at least 30mins prior.

I agree with outlander, at least 30 minutes. I would actually do 45. On our last trip, I managed to snag a 8:05 ADR at CP. MK opened at 9:00 that day. We were there about 15 minutes ahead of time and only had to wait about 5 mins to be let in. We had time to get a few pictures with very few people on Main Street and were done with breakfast before the official opening. It was a little weird hearing the PP photographer say "Hurry, it's rare to get this picture with so few people in it!" and then look up and see this MASS of people walking slowly toward you!

Thanks for the help. This is our fifth trip to Disney and I never knew this existed till I read it on the boards. MK opens at 9 am on our first full day, so we will be sure to be there early.

garrsmom: I agree with everyone else...get there as early as possible. who knows-your family might get to open the park.

Oh, and I am from Gonzales too!!! What a coincidence! We will be there October21st!

I love the MK opening. We usually get there about 30 minutes in advance. FYI... the soundtrack for this is/was available for download on a thread on this board. I listen to it a lot
