open house at DSs summer camp

Still not sure if or how much I'll be sending DS to camp this year. The camp is having an open house today so figure I'll go check it out. Most activities take place outside however there is a building for them to go in if it rains but not air conditioned. Would this be a big deciding factor for you?

How old is DS? Is this day camp or sleep over camp? One week or the entire summer?

It probably wouldn't bother me if there was no air conditioning, but I grew up in Maryland without it. (My kids say I grew up before electicity but now they need to have it. LOL)

DS will be 11 before camp starts. Its a day camp 830-430. Thinking of 3wks with a gap btwn the weeks.

DD is 11 this summer and has gone to sleepover camp for the past 2 summers. Last year she went for 3 weeks. There was no air conditioning there, but she had a ball because the camp is on the Cape and resides near a lake. Even when it was really hot at home, it wasn't as hot there. This summer she's going for the entire summer. She can't wait.

DD's been going to sleepaway camp since she was 6. We are going to visit her new camp today too!

How was open house?

I think if your DS and you liked the camp, I wouldn't let the lack of air conditioning be a deciding factor. Won't they be outside a lot anyway?

DS said this camp is better than what he's been attending the past 5yrs where the camp was more like daycare
He's just afraid he wont know where to go when but Im sure the counselors would do a good job of helping him out. Its out in the woods, many different buildings and the fresh air will be a good thing for DS. Im sending the deposits in tomorrow for 3 weeks. DSs core subjects will be physical science, natural science and robotics.
